The sender can mark the item be held for pickup, the postie will see it when he scans the item.

Yes. There is an option for that. It's called "Card for Pick Up". That usually is the case in something very valuable etc. The postie will just leave the notification card.
Have a look at the shipping label on your box. If it says "Signature" that's all it needs - can only be delivered to a person. "Do Not Safe Drop" means they can't drop it on your doorstep, only to a person, mail box or community mail box.

Maybe wrap your front lawn with caution tape or "police line:do not cross" tape.

Really? I would be shocked if wsib denied a fall claim. If that actually happens often, crawling to an approved path and then calling it in makes sense.
I would be shocked as well wsib will probably sue the home owner as well for the hazard

Yeah we get warned in training; take the path always. If it looks dangerous then just refuse delivery based on there being a hazard and report it.

Looks like I'm a victim of premature delivery notice.
I received a phone notification from CP that my package has been delivered. I was home so I walked out to the community mailbox.
Nothing in the mailbox, not even junk mail. Strange as there is always some sort of junk in there.
I filed a case with the automated chat system on the CP site. (not sure how effective this is)
A few hours later I decided to go and check again. I had a funny suspicion that they mail carrier just scanned it as delivered while still at the depot, before heading out on their route.
Bingo, it was there this time.
The other option was that the key for the larger parcels was put into a different slot/neighbors mailbox. (I am expecting a medium size package from AliE, so I know it wouldn't fit in my slot)
My other thought was that the package was actually delivered to the community mailbox. Into the larger compartment, but the key to said compartment was mistakenly placed into a neighbours slot.

So could it have been delivered in real time and it wasn't a premature scan?
I haven't heard of LC's scanning 'delivered' from the depot...in my mind that leaves you open to a whole wack of questions and potential complaints.
It was about a 3-4 hour difference between the email notification and the package being placed into the mailbox.
They did not come back to place the larger item into the mailbox at a later time. When I went to check on the mail the first time (around 10:45 am) the mail slot was empty.
When I went around 2 pm, the key to the larger slot was there along with other letter mail.
hmmph!
Come on CP, You can do better.

A letter carrier I know extremely well had a person on their route with similar disability and would deliver to the door daily. In fact, knowing their disability meant that they were less mobile early morning when they were at the location, the carrier would cycle back - at their own expense (IYKYK) - to deliver at a time that was better for the individual.
Agree. This seems like a make work project for the guy. Needing to check the mail daily gives him something to look forward to and do.
At first glance, trading boxes to a higher one seems simple but the letter carrier with muscle memory for numbers to slots probably makes at least a few mistakes for a while until they get the new muscle memory ingrained.
Agreed. In all honesty the mail carrier would probably do it daily unofficially. Most of them are great and will help out.
unofficially is always best, otherwise that 1 exception turns into a street full of people clamoring for similar treatment.
