We have a few Posties here, can anyone post a Google Map of their route?
That seems like a bad idea when you work for a company trying to fail. Maybe if they have a route map for some route they are not associated with.We have a few Posties here, can anyone post a Google Map of their route?
That door swings both ways. You see, that’s the problem.
CP has had a massive blitz on the news etc saying that it will take weeks to clear the backlog…
The posties are willing to work overtime to help clear the back log. CP is categorically denying overtime.
MANY posties suffered financially during the strike - we won’t get a paycheque until middle of January at the earliest (not including the $56/day strike pay IF you attended the line). Several I know needed to make alternate arrangements with their banks so as not to default on their mortgages.
Yes, there are some who are much more vocal than others, but they tend to have higher seniority making the top of the pay scale ($31/hour —which takes 10-13 years on average).
I once put a huge developer through our company ten-point executive credit application order but was later criticized for doing so. I pointed out that i was only following the directive where item 10 said the above is not subject to interpretations or exceptions. That door swings both ways.
Verbally 'no OT will be approved.'
I want it in writing.
'No.'
Later that day -
'Why did you work overtime, you were told.'
Prove it.
Just because they are a huge developer doesn't mean they are easy to get money out of. If payment was stalled, CEO would have been mad at you for not following the process to prevent such problems. No win situation for you.I once put a huge developer through our company ten-point executive credit application order but was later criticized for doing so. I pointed out that i was only following the directive where item 10 said the above is not subject to interpretations or exceptions.
CEO said I should have used my discretion.
I would love to.We have a few Posties here, can anyone post a Google Map of their route?
Still no OT. We have pictures of our portable data terminals' messaging app (posties to supervisors and vice versa, postie-to-postie not possible) showing that OT is denied from several people in my depot. The supervisor who put that into writing yesterday on the messaging app wasn't in the office today... guessing he got a suspension for putting it in writing.Must be getting OT. My mail just got delivered.
How small would a town have to be to only need one letter carrier? Slot count. I'm trying to envision the ruralish situation.I would love to.
Only thing is, is that's a fireable offence.
There is *ZERO* tolerance for taking pictures inside of the depot except for if you're snapping a pic of the header card (basically, your route directions street by street) so you can refer to it when out on route as needed.
I just google mapped a route I am very familiar with. It's 17.5km long (according to the Googlemap measurement tool), never leaving the sidewalks or walking way off the street for back of building business entrances etc etc. An average day would make it 22km. Heavy about 27km. It's an EXTREMELY physical route with massive elevation changes and 170 stories of stairs in total. This is one of the shorter routes due to the physical stress involved.
I’m guessing it would be somewhere around 700-1000 addresses. Anything smaller would be in mail boxes at the post office. How small would a town have to be to only need one letter carrier? Slot count. I'm trying to envision the ruralish situation.
I grew up on Erin approximately 3000 no carrier. Everyone has to go through the post office and ask for your mail at the counter, unless you want to pay for a box you can check when they are closed. Works fine no carriers needed. How small would a town have to be to only need one letter carrier? Slot count. I'm trying to envision the ruralish situation.
St Marys is around 8000 now I think. No door to door.I grew up on Erin approximately 3000 no carrier. Everyone has to go through the post office and ask for your mail at the counter, unless you want to pay for a box you can check when they are closed. Works fine no carriers needed.

That's what we had in Manitoba, living in the boonies. I can't recall if they had wanted posters at the PO.I grew up on Erin approximately 3000 no carrier. That's me tracking my NZ package. CP recognizes the Kiwi number but can't pin anything down.
