Cagers and how they drive.

A T5 beige wagon is one ultimate sleeper….

best surprising car I drove was a V70R….but bright electric blue!

As for traffic…yup. Can confirm…it blows. Work changed our office from downtown to Scarborough. No one is happy about it. Even the people living out in the east end as they prefer the downtown location. I’m def not happy as my commute went from 2km to the GO to 60km one way.

Wow thanks for that @FullMotoJacket i love it!

I worked at Jaguar / Volvo when those things came out. Have always wanted one as it’s a stupid fun (mind you I was in my early 20s at the time). But they’re so rare now. Hard to find.

I don't blame the driving schools. That a gov't problem. Trivially easy to set a radius from your registered postal code which sets a boundary for your testing center. They don't want to do anything to improve licensing.
Yes, Yes, Yes. Unfortunately proper training would have so many drivers off the roads that car sales would plummet and the demand for more public transit would rocket. Neither is in the best interest of the government.

From an insurance standpoint it's also a screw up. Vehicle insurance is supposed to be based on where your vehicle is garaged, normally your prime residence.

Typically rates are cheaper in bush country. However, the guy that lives in bush country but drives to Toronto or Brampton every day could spend more time in risk traffic than a Torontonian.

This morning I witnessed, for the umpteenth time, someone doing something boneheaded on the highway, and driving a very expensive car. In this case, it looked like the driver was being very paranoid about changing lanes.
Why do all the stupid drivers seem to drive expensive vehicles?? And at least 3/4 of them are in a BMW.
Why, why, why???

Also, let me state that I think the best drivers have German background. UK and Italians a close second.
I seriously looked at buying a BMW but I find it far to stressful to always have to tailgate people and cut people off, so I bought a less stressful car....

While that seems like a joke, whenever I drive a BMW I find myself slowly taking on those habits, must be something in the interior plastics.

I can sum up what I see very easily. It takes no skill to press the accelerator down and people in expensive cars seem to do this with great pride.
Sadly what they have in money they lack in skill, common sense, awareness, and most of all patience.
I see the same thing with many transport drivers.

It won't get any better.

So explain the guys in 10 year old civics and corollas performing the same manoeuvres.

So to sum up… There’s no correlation between a size of a bank account, car cost and driving?

Interesting.

Not sure if it is that clean. I know some very terrible drivers that keep buying bigger vehicles as they crash the old ones. Small bank account doesn't let you follow that path. You can only afford small cars so crashing will eventually catch up to you.

My new favourite one is the peeps with ‘baby on board’ stickers on the back window, that drive like complete maniacs.
I still haven't gotten that or a soccer mom sticker for my minivan. I heard it keeps people honest when driving around you.

I always hated everything about that sticker. What's the upside? If your car is on fire, people run in to try to save the kid? 90% of the time the kid isn't there and the sticker is. From a practical perspective a magnet on the kids door that gets removed when the kid is not in the car makes a lot more sense.

So basically you are confirming that there is no correlation.

Interesting.

A little banter between @Evoex and I.
I'm pleased you found it interesting, have a nice day.

Motorcycles tend to be worse, but there's a lot fewer of them around here.

401 is lawless now..

Daily observations.

Trucks going into the middle to pass trucks on the right. Then middle lane crawls to a slow and pushes cars to the left

Cars crossing solid white lines by Mavis to get onto the HOV lane

Left lane going so slow you have to pass on the right side

People weaving in and out of traffic ..

When I drive, I am also definitely not perfect.... I.set.auto.cruise and I.hog.the.left.lane going... OPP do not seem to.care if you stay below.130 km/h
We can make the laws as strict as can be, but without enforcement it means nothing. I still see a stupid high percentage of people on the 401 (and generally everywhere else) talking into their phones, texting, watching porn what have you. Nobody cares because nobody gets pulled over. Cops are too busy dealing with homeless/junkies to hit their local 401 stretch and OPP seems to forget the 401 exists. I should not have someone pass me in the right hand lane doing 160-180kmh every single time I'm on the 401 when I'm already doing 130 in the left. My eyes are on my mirrors a lot and these people still seem to pop out of nowhere flying past me, like good for you, you got stuck at the same traffic in milton as I did but you're 5 cars ahead....
