Buy Canadian (not American)-Buy this not that!

I think you mean “Trump is a pest”.

He has no notion of statesmanship, diplomacy or tact. Seems devoid of empathy or sympathy. Thinks he’s still on a TV show and acts like a classical bully.

Allies expect a certain level of treatment and respect between countries. No other president in recent history has treated allies this way. Bush junior nearly wasted a world’s sympathy for 9/11 with an adventure in Iraq looking for weapons of mass destruction that didn’t exist. I’d argue that Trumps tariffs and general behaviour and policies are worse than that. He’s claiming that something brave and different needs to be done in the Middle East but then continues a policy of Israeli appeasement. You know what would be really brave and different, forcing Israel to abide by any number of international resolutions.

He doesn’t want wars but things look less stable rather than more stable currently.
I consider him a TEST to see what an incompetent President can get away with.

The next version will be slicker, more political, and more diabolical.

These are american cars by and large though aren’t they? So the brainiac is going to tax GM vehicles by 100%
There's no logic to the madness, outside of creating smoke screens so the focus stays on the dismantling of the US government.

Here's another great example...

Keep the news cycle busy so their focus is everywhere but where it needs to be.

Even better, look at who owns the top bauxite mines. Only one seems to be held by the US and it is slated for closure in 2032.

Sure.... tariff aluminum....

Better step up that recycling...

The price of aluminum is mainly down to the price of the energy used to smelt it. The Canadian smelters use energy from hydro owned and put in place by those same Canadian smelters!

Good luck to the US in developing new sources of power for this industry when they are currently importing it from us as they don’t have enough for public consumption without the added burden of powering the smelters.

The ultimate goal is to get all the auto manufacturers to move their production out of Ontario to the USA instead. Which probably isn't terribly realistic as manufacturers know that governments change, and today's billion dollar decisions to open/close a manufacturing facility may turn out to be a billion dollar mistake a few years down the road.

In normal times, anyways. We're definitely in abnormal times.

In the end the automakers might just move to Mexico instead, but then of course Trump would just kneekerk into tarrifing them instead. Again, the goal is to get automakers to move their plants to the USA.

But the supply chain would still grind automakers to a halt inside a week or two if this happens as there's just too many parts made in too many countries for that to happen overnight. It would take probably 6-12 months to suddenly yank manufacturing contracts from factories in Canada and Mexico and move them all to the USA. During that time, the cost of their product shoots up insanely, sales crater, and consumers will lose their minds.

None of this goes beyond simplistic desires of a crazy person without any consideration to reality.

Why pay auto workers in $US when you can get good workers in $Can at 60% of that? So the price of cars in the US goes up?

This business degree the orange fuckwad got at Wharton, was it from a Xmas cracker?

This is Trump's last hurrah. NO third term. He has to suck up as much attention as possible NOW. Like any brat it's easier to get attention by being bad than coming up with real solutions.

It’s pretty hilarious how much the Americans are all crowing on FB and Xitter about the stupid Gulf of America thing.

I’m sure that’s really helped with the price of groceries and housing.

Chasing the important stuff.

Meanwhile, I was watching a flight on FlightAware, and, lol…

There are problems with almost every type of relationship, parent child, spousal, siblings, co-workers, relatives, teammates

When you've had a long term trustworthy relationship with another party, errors in judgement do happen but saying that, there are certain lines that should never be crossed. Forgiveness can be from hard to impossible when it happens.

Canada and the USA have had spats before but IMO the lines were never crossed. Trump and Company is a different beast. His method is little different from spousal abuse. Do what I say or I'll knock you to the ground and stomp on you. Some Americans may disagree with his attitudes while others only regret the financial implications.

Trust takes years to develop but only seconds to destroy. Using the war of 1812 as the last attack on our sovereignty, Trump has destroyed 213 years of cooperation. How long will it take to re-establish the trust.

Canada is going to loose this one, kinda like the hockey game last night Canadian fans booed the anthem then they lost all their fights and they lost the game....pretty much an embarrassment..

Trump isn't at the games though. The booing makes Canadians look like ********** to tell you the truth. As the saying goes, its just not cricket.
Americans are watching too. I don't like the booing either. But at least America knows that Canadians don't like what is happening. Canadians cannot rely on our politicians and business people to get our message across.
