Bobs Lake boat crash.

I'm guessing O'Leary's defense was seven figures. Like I said above about him hiring a high profile ($$$) lawyer, not with that boat he won't. You need yacht money for that. Look what happened to Donovan (Reciprocity) when he hit a pedestrian in the Burlington G&CC crosswalk on Northside Drive. The victim's son was a high profile lawyer. The lawsuit crushed him.
Was that story about Reciprocity public? I don't remember hearing it before

Conceptually it is not much different than Muzzo and many other idiots (drunk or not) on tarmac that end up killing people through reckless self entitled behaviour.

For me, I always feel it more if the people injured or killed were doing something happy right before (like in this case). All about going from the extremes of enjoyment to horror in an instant. Not sure why, maybe I watched too many horror movies.

This pic shows what sure looks like the top of the fishing boat engine. It is now located beside the drivers seat.

I remember reading a post from him when he was moving away about it.

"I recently went through this sort of court action after striking a pedestrian and killing them.

According to the police and highway traffic act I did nothing wrong, I was not speeding, impaired etc, however, I was dinged with an at fault claim from my insurance company, there was a liability settlement that my insurance company paid out but I was also subject to a secondary tort action brought on by the family to which my insurance company did not cover(there were lawyers in the family of the deceased)

The net result was, I lost just about everything I owned,, all the equity I had in my home and other financial assets."

He mentioned it on here. IIRC Pedestrian was drunk and wandered onto road. Recip was sober and complying with HTA. Still got his ass kicked in civil court.

IIRC it was a crosswalk. There are 2 there. One is the "official" crosswalk at the main parking lot entrance where the security shack is and on at the far end of the lot to cross over to the last few holes along the bay and is not a signed crosswalk. I think it was the latter. Not 100% sure after all this time.

In the USA the son of a mafia boss ran out into the street and was hit and killed by a driver. The driver disappeared shortly thereafter and was never seen again.

Appreciate you digging that out... damn. Will go eat some garbage in Don's memory

OK, now I really need to look for it. That sounds pretty unfair if he didn't do anything to cause the accident.

EDIT: Jumped the gun before reading to the end of this thread and seeing @GreyGhost's post of the other thread.

This thread is making me reconsider my 1M liability limit....especially the reciprocity story...

I have 1M on each powered thing and a 1M rider that applies to all of them. It would still be grossly inadequate if I killed/injured more than a handful of people.
Pretty sure I’m 1M per vehicle, and an additional 1M umbrella policy.

Guess it’s time to review those docs again.
