blackberry 10

I was never a BB fan, but i got to say that after getting a Z10 from my company, I am really surprised how solid and good this phone is and having the ability to download any Android app into it is just the cherry on top.

And this ^^^ is exactly BBs problem.

Majority of the battle is getting ppl to try one and realize how great it really is.

Hence the iPhone trade in deal, and other marketing incentives.

I get that. But add to that the issue that I, and countless others, had with the old os. I'm very worried that I can be left in that same position again.
I will, however, jump right back if there is ever a Sammy / Berry merger/buyout. I would have faith in that.

You talking about the Bold 9900 w/BB10. Classic, I think they're calling it? Very intriguing. Problem now is I'm getting used to my Windows phone's OS. Plus, when I had the BB with os 7, I received zero support from them with my issues. And I had been through 3 generations of BB. They may have lost me forever because of that.

I'm actually still on an old 9900 and love the thing. It's no good for internet but I only use it as a communication device anyways. Battery lasts forever, love the keyboard, and in a simple $1 ebay case it's been dropped A LOT and keeps on ticking.

I made the mistake of getting the Torch 9810 instead of the 9900. ?

I've been waiting a long time for blackberry to release an updated BB10 OS version of my beloved 9900. I've got my Classic pre-ordered and I can't wait to get it :D

The Classic is what the q10 should have been from Day 1.

I have the Z10, Z30 and Q10.....the Z30 is the best phone by far. I can type much faster on it than I can with the Q10. I got used to not using tiny buttons to type and watching videos on a big screen.

With the 10.3.1 update, the Android run time runs much smoother on the Z30. Closes that 'app gap' nicely.

There's rumour of it's successor being announced in the Spring . Code name Rio.

Ive had all those. The Passport smokes them all. Bigger, better, clearer, faster.

10.3 is amazing. BlackBerry Blend is a feature I can't live without. The android runtime runs much better and faster with 3gigs ram, and quad core horsepower.

Bring on 10.3.1

I may have to check out blackberry next. Samsung have fully ruined android.
How so? I'm new to android last year with a note 3 and I love it. Am I missing better things from years past? I've always been an apple guy and after this phone I'd never ever go back.

although they make a competent product, and they have lots of other businesses, like the chip business that will continue to do extremely well, their Mobile business is a mess right now and seems to have lost focus.

They've entered a drastic slump, market share is shrinking rapidly (due to influx of cheap and good Android phones), profit is down 49% and dropping year over year, they put a tonne of resources into a new OS (Tizen) which was supposed to be their flagship OS and replace Android, but is now relegated to budget phones, the flagship Galaxy S5 isn't selling well (relatively speaking), top level executives are quitting or getting fired.

Not looking good for the mobile device aspect of their business right now......

I will say I really like my Samsung tablet though... I hate having to deal with clunky android and wish it had BB10 but the hardware is great.

I agree with you. For a $700 device, the S5 and it's plasticky feel is very off-putting. Samsung's Touchwiz coupled with the Bloatware make the user experience unpleasant. I say this as one of the first Galaxy S5 adopters.

After playing with my colleagues Nexus 5, I will say that the Galaxy is far ahead in display and capability, however the unaltered Android experience on the Nexus is FAR ahead IMO.

FWIW, I feel like the iPhone 6 is a step down in design from the 5s

I've said it before many times, but Apple makes a remarkable product, both physical and user interface. The ONLY thing that keeps me from purchasing it is the restrictive programming where I can't do anything outside of iTunes. Android allows for direct download to the phone + plug and transfer capability from any machine, not the "home" library.

there are programs you can use in lieu of iTunes... can't recommend any as I do find iTunes to work well for me (though they keep messing up the interface worse than facebook) but i'm using it on a mac and the mac version works way better than the windows version.. there are people that don't connect their iPhone to a computer at all, just back up to the cloud.

Also, Jailbreaking the phone opens up the restrictions and more options.
