Bikes with character...

Yep, she rented one in Gran Canaria. It was the Desert Sled version of the Scrambler, more off-road oriented - taller suspension, spoked wheels, dirt-bike high front fender, etc.

rental company took off the stock 90/10s and put street-oriented rubber on it

She liked it, but said it was more of a day-tripper than a tourer. Very nimble and super-fun in the twisties, but small gas tank = poor range. Also, the heat coming off the air-cooled engine was not awesome in stop-and-go traffic, and the ~73 hp was inadequate for spur-of-the-moment passing on the highways - you needed to plan out every passing maneuver ahead of time: be in the right gear, get a good run at it, etc. as opposed to twist+go with a high hp touring bike.

Still, it was the right bike for the kind of riding we were doing and it looks great as well! Would make a great back-roads weapon.
73 hp not adequate for passing?

Trying to recall if I was ever able to pass on my slothish 74 hp Kawi H2? ...yup, I could. Sometimes with a free wheelie.

Good friend had an Indian Scout and loves it.
Guzzi’s are one of the most beautiful bikes out there but you’ve got to love the experience of it. Kind of like a Harley. Power to weight on a Guzzi is not good and there’s nothing exciting there other than the aura per se. I’d put my money on the old 500X being faster.

I don’t think speed is my ultimate goal. Hell I’ve followed you on a ride or two and you all end up waiting for me at each turn 😂😂😂

110 hp with 553 lb is slower than 47 hp with 439 lbs? I'm not convinced.

The CB500X is faster than the Griso??

How much money are we talking about? I'm in. All in!

I rode a 500X around portugal last winter and have a street bob with a 1680 for daily riding.

Speed isn't incredibly noticeable. There's was a lot more shifting on the 500 due to less torque. The Harley can use 3rd gear for uphill starts right to high-way passing.

He was hoping for 7k. Then someone suggested 10k, then 11k, now 13.5k. Scope creep is real.

Oh, it's $8 now?

These sit lower than the 1100's, you should be fine if you're a couple inches taller than me.
