73 hp not adequate for passing?Yep, she rented one in Gran Canaria. It was the Desert Sled version of the Scrambler, more off-road oriented - taller suspension, spoked wheels, dirt-bike high front fender, etc.
rental company took off the stock 90/10s and put street-oriented rubber on it
She liked it, but said it was more of a day-tripper than a tourer. Very nimble and super-fun in the twisties, but small gas tank = poor range. Also, the heat coming off the air-cooled engine was not awesome in stop-and-go traffic, and the ~73 hp was inadequate for spur-of-the-moment passing on the highways - you needed to plan out every passing maneuver ahead of time: be in the right gear, get a good run at it, etc. as opposed to twist+go with a high hp touring bike.
Still, it was the right bike for the kind of riding we were doing and it looks great as well! Would make a great back-roads weapon.
Trying to recall if I was ever able to pass on my slothish 74 hp Kawi H2? ...yup, I could. Sometimes with a free wheelie.
