Bike won't start after winter storage (even with new battery)

May be obvious but...

Did you check all your fuses?

I inadvertantly blew a 7amp fuse on my FJR a while ago. Think it was part if the immobilizer circuit

Bike would turn over but not fire...

Sounds like the clutch is locked up.
Should still roll in neutral. That's why I wondered if the spring startup was without good oil and many things got hurt. Now, they may not have actually hit neutral because it can be hard to find on a non-running bike with a dodgy clutch. Internet diagnosing this many concurrent issues isn't easy.

Yes all fuses were ok.

Yea the bike has less then 800km since last oil change. I usually do one before storage but not this time. The levels were in middle between full and empty when I check them and oil very clean.

What has happened to your poor bike? You put a running jap bike away and it had both electrical and mechanical problems coming out of storage?

Are we sure this isn't a purely mechanical problem? Does it have oil in it (at the proper level and not reeking of gas)?

Not even sure this is first time in 4 years that I had problems after winter storage

Yes oil changed less the 800km ago if even that and yes at the proper level also.

if it were me I'd hold off throwing an ECM at it
have a feeling your no neutral problem is going to relate to your no start problem
I'd focus on that first

What should I look at first for my no neutral problem??. Well I have neutral just the bike tire is locked up.

Damaged shift mechanism. You could just remove the chain until you get it running.

I'm thinking it's just the clutch plates stuck together.
If you're in neutral, the wheel should not be connected to the clutch.

Based on everything being locked up right now, it sounds like the transmission is jammed or in two gears at once. That would lock the rear wheel and engine without the clutch released.

also dumb question. Is ECU AND ECM the same thing?
I would also add - Oshawa cycle salvage, zdeno cycle, woodys cycle salvage etc would probably all have salvage sv650s for parts. Quicker than ordering online during this time. They are all doing parts pickups by appointment still. Support the local salvage yards

"Jumping up and down"? You mean the RPM gauge was jumping up and down while it idled? Yeah, your ECM is going to be fried. You surely damaged it with the live jump start from the car. Get a new ECM.
In his post he mentions the idle was jumping up and down before jumping it with his car running though.

EDIT nevermind I misread seems like he did it twice

Going today to pick the bike up and put new spark plugs in, check clutch plates, add seafoam and if possible check out one of those salvage yards you posted.

apparently theres a trick to put a screw driver on starter relay and try starting it that way?

OP - I hate to say it but - I think you’re going to sink a small fortune into a repair shop, there are some nice low km sv’s on the market. Here is a really nice back up plan if the transmission has issues. Tires look great low kms I’d snag this in a second:

yep, can jump it at the starter
make sure you have lots or room in front of the bike
or maybe solve that neutral issue first

I would want to know the engine spins freely by hand turning before trying to start it anymore. Turn the engine over a few times by the crankshaft first just to be safe

as i said im not trying sink a small fortune into the bike as im trying to sell it to get into dirt biking.

SV forums saying clutch plates sticking on the sv650 are common to rock the bike back and forth till they unstick. or open it up and unstick it manually.

yes engine turns over freely.
You could also sell it as a non runner for parts. Pretty hard to guess online what’s going on. Yea clutch plates you can sometimes unstick them by rocking them but if it were my bike I’d go manual inspect the plates if they are good still soak them in a little oil and then reassemble replace the plates if necessary. Clutch is easy to open up and see what’s going on in there
