well one of the ****ers face is clearly showing in the video, i hope that will lead to their arrest. but then what, they pay bail (or bribe as i call it) and will do it again and again. The ****ed up part is that if you beat the **** out of them then you get in trouble for hitting them!!!

yea but you are buying a replacement one aren't you? I agree wiht Jamie on this one

Also, if you are buying a replacement one, they will come back in a few months, you better have a plan B for it

yea i understand, but i am planning on moving from this hell hole so all is good, i guess.

post up the picture of the guy

It's not for a $10k bike, it is so that they catch the thieves that possibly stole hundreds of these $10k bikes, driving the insurance premiums up for all of us...
The insurance companies will make sure they will recover their dough...they're not out there to help us, they're in it to make $$.
Cops need to do their jobs instead of burning fuel and tax dollars idling in parking lots for no reason.

How about the people who buy 10k sporties but spend very little on protecting them from theft. They are the ones driving the insurance rates up....not the cops.

I would have said the thieves, myself, but whatever.

It doesn't matter what/how you protect it, if they want it, they'll get it. Nothing can protect you, no almax chain, no GPS tracker, nothin.

The problem is that **** happens so often, that it can run into the millions of $. There are obviously rings involved, not just opportunistic theft, so that makes it worth of police notice if not the CSI $5M investigation to find out who killed a hooker.

Quoted for emphasis!!

Outa sight outa mind....almax chained to something at least will deter theives... if 2 guys can pick it up it's gone.

As for all the negative posters in these stolen bike threads ----- maybe your bike will get stolen from you some day and you too
can experience that empty feeling that your pride and joy is gone. Insured or not it sucks big time. Mine was stolen over three years
ago and I'm still bitter about it.

I guess a lot of people are negative because warnings have been posted on this forum for many many times. Unfortunately, if you live in a condominium/apartment in Toronto and own a sports bike, it seems that it's almost guaranteed that your bike will get stolen, and cops will do nothing about it. Just a note to those condo owners who still have their bikes - no, you're not more special than OP, and your bike is in as much danger of being stolen.

When I lived in a condo, I was paranoid enough to keep my old GS500F at my parents' garage. Thankfully I have my own garage now.

EDIT: Maybe these scumbags are out already:

Plus there was another article about someone around Martingrove/Rexdale being arrested for motorcycle theft just last year.

sory to hear, about the loss of you brand new bike you should have placed a GPS in it so that you could have trace the current location where your bike is this is really a tested technique it really works.
All of the thieves have a $15 GPS blocker in their vehicle so it won't tell you when they steal it. And they use the same device until your bike is striped down, so it'd be of no use locating it either.

If it gets you an insurance discount I'm all for it, but will do dick to recover your bike 99.37% of the time.

NO!!! i want you to pay them to get on their $%#@ a** and do something about it. You call for a small domestic dispute 10 of those $#@! will show up. Its not just one bike stolen, so many have been stolen in the past month, something MUST BE DONE!!

AND DON'T TELL ME AGAIN THIS WHAT CAN COPS DO BS, if you have nothing to say just shut it!!!

Sorry but it has been like this for more than 10 years, it's not even the cops fault. They have very low funding for the department that deals with vehicle theft(car theft too) and break ins. They no longer send anyone and they only take a report. They mostly just ask you to go in durring their hours which is not 24/7. It makes no sense and it's retarded. The only way to change this is to bring it to public attention and talk to your councillors to see what can be done about where the tps budget goes.

Couldn't you hide it somewhere... like inside of the swingarm? Where they cant actually see it, even after the bike is completely stripped?

Yeah, especially considering that swingarm is made out of thick metal, which will perfectly shield/block your tracker.

Maybe the solution is to....

Let them taste the wrath of the numchucks yo.

I think bikers need to regroup and launch a coordinated counterstrike. We need to immobilize every minivan in the city to prevent these bike thefts.. Those minivans have won this battle but they will never win the war.

You could work around that...

given enough scientific experimentation.

Most likely the thieves are bikers

How would it be powered? If it's connected to the battery, they'll find it. If it has an external antenna, they'll find it. If it has it's own battery, how easy is it for you to charge it? How long does it last?

There isn't a very easy solution. There's a company that sells a similar GPS tracking device, and it actually comes with 7 transmitters you hide all over the bike. Not sure how they are powered.

haha you expect full CSI type stuff for what? a $10K bike?

yeah, **** happens. That's why we have insurance.
I am guessing you are a cop or related to one. Actually let's talk about what happens with insurance when your bike gets stolen.

If you have a sports bike and you are not a poser, most likely you have put some km on your bike, the insurance will take a look at similar year bikes that are for sale and make their estimate from those adds, then take a bunch of money off because you had too many KM according to the average (i.e mine (2008 zx6r)last year had 45000, the average out there was 13000) so I got approximately $5300 for a bike that I can not buy for less than 7k (last year).

So I got ****ed out of $1700 if I wanted to replace my bike and have something similar

So yes< i would like the cop to get his *** off the donut shop and do his job

They are by policy supposed to send an officer to investigate every time, they don't because they don't give a ****

And complacent people like you are part of the problem
