Bike run over by cab!

UPDATE

Bill is $1,550.xx (studio cycle)
Cabbie is not happy about the bill, he still wants to pay, he is squirming about the amount, said " well I have to do what I have to do"

gonna give hime a day
then report it.

Also don't forget the cost of your helmet, and the cost of a rental car for you while your bike is in the shop. Also make sure that the $1,550 is total and get confirmation from studio cycle that it will definitely not go past that amount. Give him the total and tell him that he has 24 hours to pay and if no money or no answer just call your insurance.

REPORT TO INSURANCE. If someone hits you, that's what you do.

Good luck getting a cab driver to pay you buddy. My pops runs a 170 car multi million dollar limousine company and I guarantee you insurance is the best route here. Drivers are shady, my father deals with their BS all the time... Seriously, don't be dumb about this or you're going to lose a lot of money...

Sorry to hear dude. Exact same thing happened to me and i settled with the guy. Just make sure you know exactly what parts he damaged. What i did was to ask for 500 more than my total damage (as i roughly estimated) and i told him this 500 is just in case and he agreed. I settled with him on 1500 which was almost exactly what it cost me. I could charge the dude a hell of a lot more. Based on his car, he would pay much more but i tried to be genuinly fair and only charged him for the damage and nothing more.

Yep agreed, get him to pay for everything (bike & helmet) otherwise you will go to insurance, he has a lot to lose in the long run, now he has a choice! Hopefully he will stick to his word!

Sorry to hear that about the job. Me too, at the end of May.

At this point then, my recommended course of action is to find out if he can meet the quote rapidly, whether its via credit card prepayment at the shop or some other method. If not, then it is time for insurance because you won't want the double stress of jobs plus the project of get money out of someone who is suddenly unreachable.
