Being deliberately screwed with? Normal or no?

So I was driving on Dundas, around the Mavis road area heading west, when all of a sudden this Buick pops out of nowhere and starts driving dangerously close to the line, and close to me since I was on the left tire track. Immediately I sensed that he was doing this on purpose, so I didn't back down initially, and just kept his pace so that he would back down and move. He started getting closer and common sense got the better of me so I eventually dropped off (there was a car infront of me so I couldn't speed up) and pulled behind him. He starts driving slower , like 20-30 km slower, and eventually slams on the brakes in the middle of traffic, which forces me to hit mine relatively quick. After a couple more meters down the road, we get up to road speed and I attempt to pass this guy when he cuts me off and swerves into the right lane. He keeps swerving and this goes on for about 15-20 seconds, when finally I resort to not putting on my signal and just deke-ing the **** outta him and hit the throttle.

I'm a new driver, and am just wondering if this is a common thing, or if I just found one lunatic a-hole that was having a bad day. Any thoughts?

Fairly normal in our lovely city of ours.

Never had it happen to me but i have been noticing a lot of drivers driving on the lines this year...What's up with that...
 
I don't like anyone around me. If I'm stuck and something like that were happening... I'd lane split at speed and get out of dodge. At some point in time you have to weigh out your options and see which one is the safer route, especially if going slower didn't work.

BTW - it isn't normal. Then again IMO it helps to look "imposing" when you are riding.
 
That's messed up. Personally I think I would have lane split to get away from him and then turn off somewhere and go a different way to my destination. We're not going to win against a cager, best to just leave them alone.
 
Normal day. Should should've stopped completely and see if he does the same thing. If he does, get off your bike and walk up to his car and see what he does. Or better yet, pull over and call the police.

Kind of the same thing happened to me today. I'm behind a RAV-4 and a Civic is on the lane next to it. I ended up being beside the Civic at one point. After a stop light, the Civic speeds up and then slows down. I come up next to it again and he just sped off running a red light camera. Good job.

What is it that attracts these Tamil guys in their Civics to racing me? No one is impressed.
 
Wats with the hating on Mississauga. Never had any issues before. Although, today when I was on my way home frm the gym, a biker blatantly ran a red on dundas near the silver city and 403. He did a wheelie half way through. Next light, cop lights came on and the police officer started chasing him down, I dunno if they caught him or not, think he made some quick turns.
 
i always wave them with my right hand as if im not on the throttle im not going it speed up. if they are an *** about it id get close enough to break thier mirror off

On any given day, people in Civics, Mazdas, Volvos, and even soccer moms in minivans tend to want to race... Guess everyone wants to prove that their 140hp car can go faster than a 130hp bike. I mean, c'mon, they got 10 extra hp, right? Right? :lol:

Not really about racing... But I've noticed a disturbing pattern, a lot of times when you see a car weaving through traffic thinking they're a bike just as you see it jamming itself between 2 cars because it thinks they're traveling too slow. About 7 times out of 10 I notice a baby on board sticker thing in the back window.

Also 9 times out of 10 on the 401 when someone is tailgating in the left lane trying to will all the traffic out of the lane so they can do mach 5. Its a Chevy Yukon or Denali or whatever the new uber sized SUVs are called, you know something with real racing pedigree.

Ever since I took advanced driving classes I've started to notice how much people ignore lines on the road. Is it lazy driving or ineptitude?

Both. You ever seen someone get a ticket for not staying in their lane? Ive seen people lane straddle infront of a cop on the 401, and still not get pulled over. If they want to do a blitz this summer, this would be the best blitz to do. Ignore the highway, spend a day downtown on any major road, you'll hand out thousands of tickets.
 
I knew an A-H who came into the office chuckling about how he went to Niagara Falls on the QEW and was cutting off an 18 wheeler and then slowing down doing it over and over again. He actually thought it was funny.
 
I think, based on the terrible behaviour drivers see from a lot of us, a lot of drivers assume if you are on a bike you ride like an ****** and so they act like ******** around you. I don't think I've ever had anything as bad as you did in that example but it doesn't surprise me. You should've taken his plate and called the police or reported it to roadwatch.ca (not that roadwatch really accomplishes anything).

Maybe he thought you were doing something unsafe and decided to "teach you better". I've had a guy almost run me off the road in the winter before because I tried to pass him on a road that had some snow on it when he was going 20 below the limit. I wanted to kill that person.

Correction. They want to prove that their 140hp (less with Civics) car can go faster than my 70hp bike that goes 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. ;)
 
It's not exactly what I'd call normal. Under those circumstances, make the first available turn and take the side-streets for a bit. If he follows you, use your vehicle's advantages over him, get the hell outta dodge and report him to popo. Chances are he'll try the same **** on another rider and they'll be on a lookout for him.
 
yup , you get these people, wouldn't say it's common that they intentionally do this alot, but when they are on a cel phone, they don't usually know that they are...lol...as for "rideitlikeyoustoleit", sorry read your name as "rideitlikeyourtoilet"...if you think mississauga is bad, try scarborough, it's a sport out there...
