"In his ruling, Judge Robert Higinbotham said he was satisfied that the motorcycle in a video posted to YouTube and the one seen in police photographs were “one and the same,” but had reasonable doubt about who was actually in the driver’s seat."

Even though they seized and sold his bike under civil forfeiture laws, there was no mention of whether police seized the guys cameras, computers or storage media to find original video.

Anyway, justice done. Nice to see a brother walk.

Add that clown to the stop posting video while doing stupid **** line up. Pity he walked.

Legalize lane splitting! While you're at it legalize all self entitled behaviour on Ontario roads. Screw everybody!

How is he compensated for the loss of his bike?

Plus court costs.

He might not be riding for a while, unless he's a rich man

Sent from my tablet using my paws

Doesn't really matter now whether he's guilty or not-guilty; George Scott has been character assassinated by the media, the public knows it was his *** on the bike.

I'm happy that the BC Courts have held themselves to a higher standard. The evidence was not sufficient to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt.

I highly doubt he'll be re-compensated for the loss of his bike or lawyer fees; I have a feeling it's like S.172 towing fees in Ontario.

They need to extend the 407ETR throughout Canada and turn it into a superhighway like the autobahn.

If found not guilty, shouldn't he be compensated for the loss????

If found not guilty, shouldn't he be compensated for the loss????

If it's his bike, he's still responsible for it. Like getting towed if your friend parks your car illegally. If you go to the pound they're not gonna just hand the car back to you because they can't prove who parked it.

Whoever rode the bike like that needs to compensate him for its loss.

The amusing consequence of any law that levies a penalty without a conviction.

What if my car was stolen? Why can i ask it back?

The same for him, what if his bike was stolen ?

The video is absolutely insane.... weaving in and out of traffic at very high speeds....

IF that's the video they used to charge him, how did they prove that the bike confiscated was the one in the video?

and by the way.

Lane splitting at 299 is an accident waiting to happen. One driver decides to change lanes and he's dead.

they matched it to the scratches on the triple tree

And this is why you have no portion of your bike visible, mount it to the front fender

Err...burglars have two legs and are generally male....they aren't my brothers. Just because someone has a bike doesn't mean ****....

Reading some of the comments on youtube;

"The Rider was just found not guilty of all crimes =). Its stupid to do this, but there are worse things in world. Had something gone wrong in this circumstance, anyone in a car would have been perfectly safe...and the rider needless to say would have been the only casualty."

wow.

And the thief brought it back?

I was talking about impound lot.

As for this case, for the sake of argument lets say his bike was taken from him without his consent and he found it back. Its still his property. What gives the police the right to take it from him ?

Chances are he can receive an amount of money equal to the worth of the bike. Also if he was smart he can sue for slander and defamation of character within the media.
