August 23rd... Riders choice at Mosport...

The b/f and I just signed up. I'll be in novice, he will more than likely end up in intermediate after the first session.

See you guys tomorrow! :)

EDIT: Does Mosport put out entrance, apex and exit cones?

When I was there with DOCC in May there certainly were not cones marking the lines. There were a few out but I think they were just braking markers for the most part.

Not sure if that is a "Mosport" think or a TD organizer thing.

Get someone to show you the lines. In a few places they are not obvious. For example, T2 is a left-hander that begins over a blind crest. Oddly, you have to stay way to the left at the entrance (i.e., left of the middle of the track) or you will run off the track on the right You'll see what I mean the first time through.

It helps to crib off someone else for the line through 5 (Moss Corner) as well. The rest of the track is pretty simple.

And hopefully someone tells you there's a bump on turn 2 as well if you go a bit wide on entry (begin your turn at the big dark patch on the inside).

So Mosport was a lot of fun! After the first session I was like, I think I just want to pack up and go home. But after the second session it started becoming a lot of fun. Hard not to over-brake and roll off the throttle when you don't know that craZy track, though. I'd ride there again.

It is true there were alot of red flags today, first session someone spewed oil in turn 10 i think it was, and turn 10 took out a few. It was my first day at Mosport so I was glad just to finish in one piece. Otherwise great day though.

I understand that's why they took the early lunch — to try and clean up the oil spill. Didn't work though, as I understand T10 took out the majority of the downed riders. I ended up walking through that corner because I didn't want it taking me out too.

+++++++++

Any word on the Intermediate rider they took away by ambulance? I hope he/she is ok.

Was a bit of a Gong show. was surprised to show up at the track to find out they were going to run 4 groups(15min) , after I had been told 3 groups would run (20 min) with shorter sessions some people tend to go all out, out of the box

The extra group(4th) was for the Pro's?

Probably the correct and safest choice to run with four.

I learned that going straight from the apex of 4 to the apex of 5 its the best line, basically cutting across the track from rumble strip to rumble strip. But I am sure faster riders may have a different line

Don't disagree , it was the right thing to do to run a separate group for the pro's, but being told one thing and taking money and then changing the program is just comes across a little shady, if I had known would have opted for a pro 6 track day earlier in the week, Poor business ethics.

4 groups vs 3 is about 35 minutes difference on track time (7 hr day X 15 minutes or 7hrs X 20 minutes)

105 mns vs 140 mns

so potentially a noticeable amount of track time if you're the type to be first in-last out and not miss a session.

that's kind of weird. i went to their double header last week and it was run 3 sessions. was the 4th group specifically for the national competitors ?
