nope mine red, ducati's really should be red. My wife keeps making noise about a porche boxster, claims its an affordable porche. Porche and affordable dont fit into the same sentence well.

Well......whaddaya know...... it indeed looks like this deal is done.

1.12 billion dollars.

I'll have to eat my hat now.

Interesting tidbit :

ABOUT DUCATI Ducati makes about 40,000 two-wheelers a year. By comparison, industry leader Honda sold more than 16 million motorcycles last year.

Latest news:

REUTERS is reporting that Ducati has been sold to Audi for some 860 million Euros and that the deal will be officially announced tomorrow.

The deal sees Audi taking on Ducati's debt, the level of which is unclear, and will finally give VW boss Ferdinand Piech a grip on Ducati – something he previous said he's regretted not having for quarter of a century after a previous attempt to buy the company failed in 1985.

The 75 year old, who's expected to be re-elected as VW chairman at the firm's shareholder meeting later this week for another 5 year term, is already a Ducati rider.

That's comforting to know. Always good to have the people running the show, using the products they sell. In an ideal world, love to see the German engineering make nice with the Italians design aesthetics....

Over-complex bikes that are impossible to fix? If you think Ducati service is expensive now, wait and see if the Germans get their way. I'll stick to my prehistoric air-cooled, 2-valver thank you very much.

BINGO! if the audi/vw service rates and parts prices are an indication, boutique pricing will be in full effect. I'm pleased Duc will now have a solid financial footing, It will be something to watch styling changes if the VW group influences that.

If I was Ducati, I'd beg him to bring the bike back before further tarnishing their image.
