Attawaspiskat - $92.5 million transfered, poverty still reigns

i think i have the solution!

host the next g20 at attawapiskat!

problem solved! $90 mil is a drop in the bucket when the feds are squandering $1+ billion!

if they can manage to build (in a matter of days, no less) miles of fences to stop citizens from freely moving in downtown toronto, what's a few modular homes? plus, they'll solve the fresh water issue by making an artificial lake!

think of how much less money will need to be spent on security and flying in workers (read: cops) from around the country!

two birds with one stone, people. . .

And it's not like anybody is going that far north to protest, Brilliant!

At least they'd get a nice gazebo.

I mean, who doesn't want a nice gazebo?

Let's beat this horse some more, cause i'm not happy about how the free tax dollars are spent.

“An average of 81 per cent of files did not have adequate supporting documents and over 60 per cent had no documentation of the reason for payment,” he wrote.

Hunger strike my arse, the fat pig has 3 chins, she can survive another year.

There are roughly as many people who are Status Indians, Inuit, Metis, and Non-Status Indians in Canada as there are total residents in the Province of Manitoba. About 40% of them live on reserves, or roughly the population of Newfoundland and Labrador. Perhaps it's time that the Indian Act was tossed and the indigenous peoples living on reserves were given the status of a separate Province, with all of the rights AND RESPONSIBILITIES therein provided? Increased unit bargaining power, with better and comprehensible representation (no question of whether the band leader, band chief, Warriors, or grandmothers speak for the people), and above all else people to hold responsible for the proper disbursement of the large number of funds received.

There is a huge disparity in the fiscal responsibility and success of the various bands. You've got places like Attawapiskat, where the people live like West Africans on tundra, while their 'leaders' live in relative luxury. Then you've got bands like the one in NB that makes a good amount off their large blueberry fields and private employment, or the one in NS that is so well off that they kick money into the neighbouring general population community, rather than the other way around. There are actual leaders in the native community, then there are the people who suck at the public teat while bearing the title. Bring them all together so that the people who are ill-served by the suckers can see how the ones served by the leaders prosper, and you can bet that things will be shaken up.

A picture is worth a thousand words...

The caption on that picture should read > "Sorry, we spent the 90 million at the casino and bar, can we get a second chance?"

U know if your mom had married someone different u won't have been born, right?
Who knows maybe your name would've been Rob Cayuga

Humourous comment, not metaphysical comment. I'd be one wealthy Aboriginal electrical engineer, who's sick of blueberries.

Audit besides the point, I doing believe Harper should meet with her because of the hunger strike. It is akin to holding some one hostage unless demands are met. And most people know, I am no fan of harper's nor am I a fan of his track record.

Looks to me like she's a far ways off from starvation.

Let me get this straight. You think Mr. Harper SHOULD meet with her? She's doing a specific diet strike, so she seems like the one holding HIM hostage by not giving ultimatums. She could leave the reserve anytime she needed, just like the rest of them.

I think the "doing" is a "don't". If you read the post in its entirety that appears to be the only way it makes sense.

Don't believe he should meet with her, not sure I can blame it on autocorrect.
