anyone like riding solo?

Prefer riding solo - I go where I want, when I want. Meet ups somewhere are better IMO - go grab a bite or coffee somewhere in common, meet other riders, shoot the breeze for a while and buzz off when you feel like it.

I agree. Other than one other rider that I completely trust, I hate riding in groups.

Always needing to keep track of them. Most don't ride very well. Pisses off everyone else on the road when they figure they can control intersections or when coming out of parking lots or when doing the rolling roadblock thing.

Occassionally I do like going to a destination and meet there with other riders.

By the way, I fail to see any sociality in riding with others. You can't talk or interact. Riding is a solo experience. Even if you have someone on the back it's not like you're chatting with them all the time. I love that when I ride I'm alone. It's one of the major attractions of motorcycling for me.

There have been maybe two or three other riders that I've liked to ride with that I can ride in harmony with. My brother is one. We can ride side by side with confidence knowing how and when we'll react. More than one other rider I find to be a pain.

See that's where you are wrong - having a Scala or other system makes it incredibly fun, safer and easy to make decisions with up to 3 riders.
Both my riding partners have Scala's and that 12 hour ride around the back roads on Saturday with Jay would have been much duller and harder to achieve smoothly.

For instance I will lead for a bit and he'll be listening and looking at the GPS in some areas and I can keep an eye out ahead while he's asking for a decision on a route.....we share out the work and get to chat about all sorts of stuff.
Range is good and it makes the time so by on the boring sections and shared fun on the twisties. We got into some lovely laneways and part of that was discussing where they led and should we.

You are only solo these days if you choose to be.

More than three tho I'm iffy on.
Two lends a lot of safety.

We're heading on this

"Their ain't no doubt that the greatest road in Eastern Canada just might be the private Hydro Quebec Road from Matagami to Radisson. They have some funny signs which speak of radar (By whom? It's a private road owned by the Hydro). The rare traffic on the road runs at a great pace, over clean pavement, for hundreds of miles. One note is that there is only fuel in the middle, so make sure you are full up before you head north. Also, as the road is private property, you need a pass to ride it. Fortunately, all you have to do to get one is to go to the gatehouse in Matagami, and ask for a tour of the LeGrande Power Plant. Then ride like crazy to LG, get a great tour of an incredible Hydro project. Hop over to Chiassibi to see the Cree and James Bay, then back. When heading south, stop in Amos and see the zoo. Another private affair run by an ex-DEP type with all sorts of great animals. Ride safe, go North!"

and no way I would want to tackle 1000km north on my own. But with a buddy and the Scala I look forward to it.
Clients and staff can be in contact as well where ever there is cell coverage.

Don't get me wrong, I love to ride alone and especially at night but don't use "can't chat" as an excuse.
You can and it's really clear and effortless.
Spooky at times when buddy is a ways back and sounds like right beside you.

I like riding solo but I also like riding in (some) groups. It depends on the other riders and whether there's a general plan ahead of time.

There are some people I won't ride near!

I hate solo! It's so incredibly boring. Group rides 100%

i do both i have a small group that i trust........ yet i have done large groups also i just stay behind........

I enjoy group rides when people know how to ride properly together. Goes very smooth and enjoyable to share the experience with like minded people. Did a ride north of montreal and into ontario and back with about 12 riders, was great fun, just cruising the open roads, seeing new places, then stopping for a pint on the St. Lawrence before people were splitting off to wherever.

Now for touring, I prefer to be on my own as my pace is different then most I have ridden with. I like to do 1000km days and still be done before 5, which on my own is far from a problem, with a group of 3 or more, it becomes a challenge to have everyone on the same mind set, and rightfully so, not everyone enjoys my kinda riding. Both have there pros and cons, but at the end of the day you have to do what you enjoy, there is no right or wrong answer.

I like riding solo because it is easier to schedule. :)
Group riding can be fun in the company of like-minded riders.

So true for solo riding, nothing to schedule at all. Also able to go at your own pace.

And to think, for years, I thought that riding solo meant riding without a passenger. Whaddya know?

Solo or with one or two others only if everyone knows each other's riding style and abilities. As for finding decent roads, look at a map and decide what looks good then go exploring. That's half the fun of finding them and; if you find them on your own, chances are you'll remember how to get to them next time.

I would agree on many points already made.
Solo is great for those last minute, spontaneous rides.
Small groups rides of like-minded riders are also fun.
Big groups of strangers on bikes can be a hit-and-miss, but definitively, should be tried at least once to say "Been there, done that!"

To the OP, whatever you like to do on 2 wheels is your prerogative and hope you enjoy it!

I will say solo, or one other rider is best on the hwy... LAANNNEE SPPPPLLLLIIITTT!!
