Anyone else out still riding on the nice days?

Just got back from picking up my daughter from work, our secondary streets are already completely doused in salt.

Only saving grace is that tomorrow evening it's supposed to change to rain at some point and then rain lightly all night into Friday morning, but I doubt it'll be enough to wash away the quantity of salt that's being dumped in preparation for the IceMageddon they're predicting.

Yeah :( It's depressing. We enjoyed a mild winter only to have it prolonged into April...
Next week doesn't call for any significant rains either. It's a shitshow.

We got out for a quick ride last Friday. Was nice to get the new bike out and see how the mods performed. Our beloveds thought we were crazy riding in 3c temps but it was sunny and didn't feel too bad. This Sunday and Tuesday look decent for another scoot.

Probably posted every year but seems more prevalent than ever when it comes to the march part.

Rode to the shop, 1km. Spice shop had a smoking incident in the stone mill, so another 2km to see what's up with that ...

There was freezing rain for 15min last night so of course they salted :(

They didnt salt the whole roads tho. Just the hills and corners. Because everyone knows bikes love surprise salt patches in the corners.

There was a lot more than 15 minutes of freezing rain in many areas. And I don't think inconveniencing motorcyclists (in March) is top of mind when it comes to the consideration of road salting & sanding. ;)

Looks like the crap is over with, big warm up on the way - 12 degrees in Windsor, and amazing enough the south shore of Erie and about 30 minutes south of Rochester/Buffalo on the other side of Lake Ontario it's over 20 degrees right now! They're also calling for quite a bit of rain overnight into the morning, so that may wash away a lot of the crap. I may try to get out for a ride Saturday, and temps on Sunday are looking quite appealing, although we have family commitments....

We've had freezing rain all day, the salt trucks are out right now. It was bad enough to finally kill my wiper blades so I picked up those Bosch ones from Crappy Tire. Hopefully they last a couple years!

Looks like lots of rain is coming overnight, and the worst of the storm was north. Sister's family is in Florida so we're doing a "delayed Easter" which means this weekend is open, and the forecast actually looks okay after this storm blows through. Ready to go!

I'm on pins and needles. I just literally glued my motorbike back together. I hope I don't slip into a coma and miss any action.

I have to say I've never anticipated nice weather so much. I can't wait to get out on a day where I'm not freaking out about salt/sand and freezing my gooch off.

Hard to say about the rain, the warm front screeched to a halt (would you believe it's 20 degrees C just 20 miles south of Buffalo right now?) and the result is that the storm is pushing east faster than originally expected - the western edge of the precip is now between London and Mississauga, and there's nothing behind that, so it's going to be gone inside a few hours. Hard to say if that'll be enough to wash things clean or not.

But, much of the salt that did get laid down, at least out this way, melted and is gone, so there's not huge piles/trails of the stuff everywhere, so I can't see myself not riding Sunday at least - the weather looks beautiful.

Hopefully this is the last gasp of winter. At 2PM this afternoon I was in Madoc, it was freezing rain like hell, windy, cold..just generally miserable. I'll admit I've had enough of this crap, easy winter or not.

strongly agree, we ll just have to take it easy on the corners

Recon run in the car. Main roads are mostly dry. Shady spots have some wet spots and ice patches but ice is melting fast. Tomorrow and Sunday should be good to go. Few small branches down and I saw one road-closed sign - probably a tree down.

+7 tomorrow, and +13 here in Ottawa this weekend...and +8 and raining mostly all next week. With a few days of +10 and sunny mixed in.

Time to start doing plug chops!
