Anybody need some cellular data?

Switched back to Koodo from Public and bought a new phone a while back . I might have had problems from using a 4 G phone with 5 G service or something. (was a Samsung S10). Koodo sells phones, works fine with the new phone, and it’s also under the Telus umbrella.

Since @nhoj has dropped the ball on this, I guess it's up to me to update youse guys on the latest Public Mobile deals.

Sorry, I only saw it Saturday and you had already posted here :)

Anyone know of any cell providers with an iOT plan that includes texting and a few hundred megs of data every month for a reasonable cost?

I have an iOT device (without going into a ton of detail) that needs service. Currently paying $15/month on one of those Lucky Mobile SIM's from Dollarama, but it doesn't include texting, only data, and that's becoming an issue for my application.

Freedom Mobile has a plan that would be ideal, but unfortunately said iOT device doesn't support their network bands, so I need a Big3 (or one of their piggyback) carrier option.

$19/month cheap enough?

Extra 25GB and Mexico included for a dollar more per month!
I signed up for this yesterday using the esim option. Very slick and easy process. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

How is the service on this compared to the big 3? I need my cell phone for work and home and usually in the GTA, but planning on going to the US every now and then.
Thanks for posting this.

Public Mobile is the discount carrier of Telus.

They use the same telecom infrastructure as Telus - same towers, same coverage - but without the marketing and tech support. If you can troubleshoot your own device/connection, then discount carriers are the way to go.

That's what Koodo is too ... is Public below Koodo then?

Any suggestions of a plan available for EU as we currently spend about 2 months there?

Currently with Fido, but do like the Public offering for CAN-US-Mex, especially for short jaunts to US. Any experience with the Travel packs

I usually get an eSIM (Data) and then a local SIM for my wife's phone for local calling, but would be ideal if i could still have my CAN number when there without expensive roaming ($15/day)

koodo is technically a "flanker" brand and PM is the discount.... source: SIL works for the green giant.
this boxing day i scored 50 gc /line from walmart for going to freedom, 35/month for 75gb can/us/mex (BYOD) + 10gb internationally (100 countries if i recall correctly) per month (roaming). saved myself basically 50% on my cell bill per month.

if you call overseas more PM has the same deal but instead of the roaming its 1000 LD mins

Freedom has a worldwide plan 45 month 100 gb full speed data at home and 20 GB per month in most of the world no roaming.
In Mexico right now and it is fine Canada roaming on the big 3 is included so no coverage issues at home. Heading to Hungary in the spring should be good there as well.

Try this, $10 off:

That gave me a credit if I proceed. Thanks. I was going to go with freedom as ideally I want the phones to work everywhere without needing to buy local sims and it sounds like freedom is better for that. Freedom is annoying me though so public may get a shot. They say my credit doesn't meet their requirements. It's high 800's.

Since you travel more than most, what do you do? Pick up local sim cards everywhere?
