There are some technical reasons why I don't think they are anywhere close to production-ready. They brag about not having mechanical connections to the driver's controls ... except that motor vehicle safety standards the world over, require such mechanical connection for the steering and the brakes (via hydraulics). Not having a mechanically-connected steering wheel/column affects the fundamental design of the vehicle, and until they do that ... it's a non-starter. It's also quite unlikely that their "autonomous driving" is any closer to being production-ready than anyone else's is ... not very.
A prototype Canoo has been spotted out in the wild, nevertheless. On a VW internet forum, someone thought it was an ID Buzz, but this was quickly sorted out.
