Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

My wife just bought a Porsche Taycan and she loves it. So much it’s now turned her into a car lover / enthusiast which she wasn’t before

In other German EV news (and this one ought to be more accessible to people of normal means) ... Audi's version of the VW ID.4 has made its appearance - the Q4 e-tron: Q4 e-tron Models > e-tron > Audi Canada

I like that one, particularly the Sportback. I technically like the VW ID.4 but I don't particularly care for its styling (inside or out). The Q4 e-tron Sportback, I could see myself driving that.

That audi may be your only choice this year. The id4 is only avail in Quebec and bc

Starting at 85g for a base model. Yikes

The Audi won't be out until next year, either. Doesn't matter, I'm not due for a new vehicle yet.

^ That's interesting. Things are shaping up for a takeover of the high-end luxury market by EVs.

That makes sense. That market has always strived for quiet effortless power. EV gives them that and also allows packaging to increase interior space.

It will be interesting to see how manufacturers keep buyers on the treadmill when tech changes slow down and they arent staring down the barrel of five figure annual maintenance.

It makes a lot of sense for the luxury market, a segment where the cars tend to sit a lot in owners garages and don't rack up a ton of miles. I'm sure any luxury car owner who's ever experienced any of the insanely expensive and often time consuming and hassling mechanical upkeep (typically courtesy of the engine) won't be sad to see that become history instantly.

And I think the secret is out EV's are just a lot of fun to drive.

Edit: Greyghost and I responding at the same time, seems were on the same page...

Modern exotics and sports cars don’t need insanely expensive upkeep....

You should probably, uh...click the link in my response above.

Unless you don't consider $30,000 a year in maintenance, a $3K oil change, expensive.

I don’t consider that expensive at all. As a percentage of the purchase price it’s probably less than maintaining your Hyundai. You gotta pay to play. Most of the cars in the article are not current anyway .

You increasingly come across as some 19 year old trust fund self absorbed kid who has no objective view of the real world.

I realize for someone who can afford a million dollar car, $30K a year in maintenance or whatever probably isn’t going to break them. Doesn’t mean some would still rather avoid it (and the car being gone for potentially a week or two while it’s happening if they could. And have a better performing car at the same time.

Trust fund would have been so awesome. All those expensive oil changes I have to pay for would have been much easier but sadly I have to actually run a business. Do you think being without a car for a week matters ? People who collect cars lIke me have multiple cars obviously

Disregard the previous drivel couple posts back.

How do you feel about the Taycan compared to the sweet sounds of that McLaren?

thanks! the taycan is super nice , quick and smooth and like a spaceship but typical sterile too perfect a bit boring Porsche. But very very nice in many ways
the mclaren is more vicious and raw and more alien spaceship than human spaceship like the taycan
