Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

I wouldnt touch any korean EV, and especially, especially german.

Have you bought that Tesla you’ve been fawning over for years yet? Since, like, the beginning of this thread 8 years ago?

They’re getting pretty cheap on the used market now.

No?

Didn’t think so.

Currently no electrics in the stable at the moment.

But if I was in the market 8 years ago at the time, or 4 years ago, or even today.

I'd still only choose a Tesla as of today.
With polestar being a very close runner up.

As of right now, the new Dodge Charger. Batteries, and final assembly, are in Windsor.
We rented a few chargers (petro) in my time and find them to be decent vehicles. Dodge is offering 72 months 0% financing but, the base RT is $57k plus tax. Over 500 kms range and awd. Haven’t sat in the ev version. FIL has a ram P/u with hemi and drives plush and find it works just fine even if the Chev and ford folks look down their nose at them.

It’s still a tuff pill to swallow to spend $57k or lease a dodge product.

I’m gonna keep running my paid for petro machines for the time being. But, EVs are in my scope. $84 to fill up the Subie today in Ottawa. I’ll have a better idea of my business use mileage by end of year and will be reassessing our needs then.

I still like the idea of plugging in at night while at home and having decent range. Will likely keep a petro machine for the occasional road trip that doesn’t allow for the ev charging from time to time. Yes, I can plan for it but have to say I still find it convenient to grab a coffee and fill up and be on my way in less than 10 mins.

Hybrid fits the need best but, I can adapt my habits some too.

We'll have to think of what to do with the site when that moment comes.

Maybe change the banner to Green background for 24hrs or something to celebrate...

I won't hold my breathe.

“That said, it’s unclear if the batteries were preconditioned before plugging in”

Based on the low charge rates they posted, clearly, most vehicles were not. I’ve personally seen 150+kw on our ioniq5 (the most the charger could put out) but they were drastically lower during this testing. It can charge at 350kw.

It’s hard to take this sort of stuff serious when they don’t even seem sure what they’re doing and how to ensure they’re comparing things equally.

Drove a Bolt EUV and was thoroughly impressed. Was ready to pull the trigger and then offered me a ridiculously low trade in value for the GTI…so I walked.

I’ll throw out my counter offer tomorrow. But the car drove well and I found it drove firmer than the IONIQ5.

They give me within 1k of what I’m shooting for in terms of trade and Bolt will be mine.

If not…we’ll see.

It’s def larger than the GTI. The Bolt EV is about the same size, but the EUV is a good size.
