It's a tough process and relies on trust. Dealer could get you on the hook now and then in 6-12 months bend you over if they want. They could increase their profit on the used vehicle or if you walk, they have a new one in stock to sell. Hard for dealer to lose money, easy to lose trust/respect.I suspect most dealers are going to want to hold off with the trade-in value pending re-inspection at the time of the actual trade-in. If it's locked in earlier, you know the vehicle in question will never get another car wash, nevermind another oil change. Chipped windscreen? Oh well.
This is valid as my son put an order in on a Corolla Hybrid almost a year ago. They gave him a trade-in value on his Camry and said the Corolla will be here in about 6 mos. It's a tough process and relies on trust. Smart dealers are preparing their guests. We WILL NOT honour trade in values until we have an ETA for your vehicle. No one is bound by the pricing we give you until the car arrives. I don't know if I am selling you a 2022 or a 2023 when we take your order. If you don't like the pricing when it arrives then cancel. But you are not bound by anything. Unfortunately we cannot give you your time back when you have already waited so long if you cancel your order. But having said that....expecting your trade to be worth the same as it was 6 months ago is insane. It could be more or could be less! You've had the use of the car for another 6 months so consider it more used. It's a tough process and relies on trust. That sounds fair to me. That's why I said it comes down to honor and trust. I wouldn't expect the number to be identical but would hope that any adjustments from the original deal seemed reasonable and justified.Smart dealers are preparing their guests. For me it would be getting maximum for the volt we have 3 other vehicles we can drive in the meantime.guys, I wouldn't rush, new models are gong to be coming fast and furious across the board. We are at the sweet spot of the cycle where cars are ready to be released soon. All the talk will now become action, next 2 years will be exciting
400km in the warm weather works for me. That would be about 250-300km in the cold....so still meet my requirements. The base Equinox EV at that starting price (assuming it holds) isn't going to have the battery that will have a longer range than the Bolt ... It looks like the base front-drive-only Equinox with the base battery is supposed to have a 400 km range, same as Bolt (still pretty good). The cheaper models are also going to be delayed-introduction. 2024 Equinox EV | Electric Compact SUV | Chevrolet Canada
Even vw mechanics dont want to own vw evs right now. Some unsolvable software issues apparently. Hopefully fixed before we can get them.Yeah my sweet spot is 400km+ in the summer too only because I know come winter it'll lose 25% or so.
It just seems too right now, outside of the Bolt, all EV's are mid-size. Here's hoping some more Bolt-sized options start showing up. Too bad the VW ID3 isn't here - I kinda like that.

Hopefully they figure it out. My wife would be so happy with an ID Buzz (new ev bus) if it works well.Heard some thing about them spending (IIRC) $1B+ on a Chinese software company to try and rectify the ID issues.
