Any GTAM'ers own an electric vehicle?

Guy in my area had a red one.

Sweet ride.

2008 was the first year of that car. They were waaaay ahead of everyone else.

Look at where they are today in such a short time.

And they still do it best.

Crazy election promise the next. Surprise surprise, the liberal morons also say that much more government money is required to hit the goal and they will be happy to provide it.

I think we will have a large percentage electric by then but would I want an EV as my only option if I lived in Wawa? F no.

Nice - so we'd rather tax and beat the hell out of our own people rather than confront countries like China (and I'm sure other populous countries like India etc) about their emissions...?

I wonder if those Nordic countries have a beefy (carbon?) tax system which in turn raises the price of petrol to what it is projected to hit here in 2030..if memory serves me well - around ~40+ additional cents per litre?

So what will the Federal Government do with all this additional tax revenue?
Will it be used for the betterment of infrastructure or quietly vanish into thin air?

On a side note, it looks like the EV taxes are starting to take hold now that they want to address the loss in revenue at the pumps lol:

I suppose time will tell how all of this plays out....

Well, we might be selling the Ioniq. For a few reasons.
  • It's still pretty low mileage courtesy of really not moving a ton in the last 16 months.
  • It's still in really nice shape.
  • It has the Cold Climate Package that was so hard to find when we bought it.
  • The drivetrain and battery are still like factory new. I've taken care of it and the battery has had an easy life.
  • I know we can still sell it for more than we owe on it.
  • And the biggest reason now.... It seems like an overkill considering my wife has all but been told even when she goes back to work it's going to be probably only 2 days a week.
Current plan is to keep my Volt (might as well drive it into the ground now) and probably buy a second Gen Volt instead given the Covid effect on her commute moving forward. The little bit of gas that my wife would be using for half her commute 2 days a week (she'd make it to work on electric alone) is fairly inconsequential, and it would give us more travel potential with the camper moving forward. And there was rumour of chargers being installed at her work as well which would change things even further.

My first gen Volt is proving to be at the bleeding edge of powertrain potential towing the camper and it's increasingly evident it's going to limit where we could go - the car *physically* handles the trailer like it's not even there (literally, it's 2 finger driving), but the drivetrain struggles at times, particularly at speeds north of 90kph. Reportedly the second gen cars are drastically more capable towing. I'm going to go for a test-tow with my BIL's 2018 tomorrow and see how it handles the camper. That might be the deciding factor.

Well this is surprising….Land Rover and Jaguar jumping on the hydrogen train…

As long as there's a fill station at the dealership. I don't think a Jaguar or Land Rover has ever managed a full tank of fuel without needing a trip there anyways, so all good.

Ooof….I take that personally as i worked at Jag for many years (that job helped me pay off my schooling).

Outside of the X-Type repeat issues the cars were awesome. The older gens….not so much…

This one is for you @FullMotoJacket

Spotted in beamsville. 2010 model with 150k on the clock and still pristine. Owner is over the moon with it. (and needless to say owns other Teslas)

Posted with owners permission.

PS. Tesla still does it best. Even in 2010

Here is a lightly-camouflaged version of the next VW Bus (they call it the ID Buzz for now) caught testing ... all electric ... and I want one.
