I disagree with your statement. It's a simple question for most people. I'm not asking for any qualification or commitment to a solution or action of any type. Answering yes does not bind you to finding a solution.

I manage over 135 employees with a wide range of backgrounds.

Here's the funny thing about minorities: there's less of them.

But it's funny you say that, because take a look at the universities and government offices. If you're looking for a job right now, you really don't want to be born here, especially if you're white, and especially if you're male. Which is exactly why this thread exists.

8% of the GTA population are black, I’d say that’s about what I see in in the workforce. Certainly all of that at the bank I worked for, in TPS, govt services.

I haven’t applied for a job in over forty years so it was news to me when I read it . I was a bit surprised. I also know nothing about HR , except watching the mandatory six hrs of video we had to have all employees watch so we could afford insurance for the company. ( they can’t say I didn’t know I couldn’t call a coworker anal pirate in the office , it was in the video )

I remember applying to Hatch when I graduated 20yrs ago and they asked the diversity questions. When you don't get so much as a call its hard to shake the feeling that that answering "yes" to one of those questions would have helped. They specify in the question that they are committed to hiring a diverse staff which I am not a part of. I still get ****** off driving past Hatch when visiting my Mississauga location.

OPG asks these questions too. If I'm ever looking for a job again I am going to check off that I'm Indigenous trans and handicap. Maybe it gets me in the door. I don't think that they could fire you after the fact based on your lack of a disability etc.

Worked at that Hatch office a few years back. Very diverse…except at the top level…very…non-diverse.

I had no issues but if you’re not in the cool kids club…you’re not getting much in terms of advancement / shares.

So I left.
 
Decades ago I had a nutty baptist coworker. He wanted to join the police. So much so he was training for the mandatory run that was part of the initial test to see if you were in shape.
He didn't get in. He then later told me one of the questioned asked if it would be ok to shoot a gay person. He answered yes because the bible says it's a sin. Again nutty baptist.

You can’t shoot the gays , I think the bible says you need to stone them . Or toss them off an apt building in some countries seems fine .

They renamed Fort Bragg (Fort Liberty?) back to Fort Bragg, but this time they named it after a Union soldier named Bragg. It would be funny if it wasn't sad.
