another car thread

On a moderately related note ... my 2006 Jetta diesel crossed 400,000 km yesterday.

Regarding the Civic ... I've not heard a whisper yet about the pushed-forward 2013 mid-cycle refresh. It ought to be showing up soon.

400k? On a Civic, it would just be breaking in at this point..... j/k... seriously, modern cars should easily last 4 or 500k with proper maintenance. My Ford van is at 400+ kms and this thing takes a beating, carries lots of weight, tows on occasion, is worked in extreme temperatures and conditions, and generally gets driven hard. It still runs like a champ, but I am sure to religiously maintain it.

As for the Civic redesign? Yeah, I've been hearing the same rumblings, but based on the new civic based 2013 Acura ILX which isnt exactly ground breaking (but I do love the exterior styling), I'm not holding my breath quite yet that the 2013 will be such a quantum leap.

But for the price sensitive buyer in the OP, who purchased her first car, and stole a loaded 2012 Civic at a price that was too good to refuse...... no doubt, the 2013s will be back to regular honda premium pricing.

Even competitors car companies are amazed at Honda blowout pricing.....

Here you go, sir. Nov 29 is the day.

Heres the reason for the 2012 blowout pricing : " Honda is encouraging dealers to sell off their inventory of 2012 models by as much as possible prior to that date, as the 2013 enhancements will make the 2012 model a "difficult sell". "

I believe the silver one is the current model being sold in SE Asia (Thailand, Malaysia, etc). The Motor Trend spy photos aren't exactly the same but the headlights and front bumper look pretty darn similar. Taillights are different - the silver one uses the current (2012) taillights with an extra piece on the trunk lid, the one Motor Trend got a picture of has different shapes for the red and clear parts of the lens and the trunk lid has something taped over to hide it. You can see in the photos that they've kept the two-level instrument panel but can't see the details of it.

Anyway, the outer styling is one thing. What remains to be seen is whether they've fixed the steering, and the suspension calibration, and the sound insulation, and the materials used in the interior ...

The one I posted was the "all new 2013" Civic, that came out in 2012 for the Asian market as you said but it's what the NA bottom of Honads barrel will look like.

Looks like a Camry fell into a plate of hot sick :)

:lmao:

Looks to me like same crap different pile.
Honda is gonna get extinct if they continue on their road

Similar, of course, but not the true North American version.

I havent heard of any driving impressions yet and what chassis improvements they made if any, but the interior is apparently a huge improvement is whats reported from those who have seen it.

I just have trouble getting my head around the Tokyo skyline at night dashboards Honda favours these days. Our 2012 civic makes me dizzy. I like my VW dash so much better.

Extinct eh?.....significant sales gains and new sales records are a sure sign of extinction......

:laughing3:

American Honda today reported October 2012 U.S. sales of 106,973 units, an increase of 8.8 percent compared with October 2011. The Honda Division posted October 2012 sales of 94,810 units, an increase of 8.7 percent compared with October 2011. Acura U.S. October sales of 12,163 units increased 9.4 percent compared with October 2011.

Honda
- Accord leads all Honda vehicles in October with sales of 28,349 units, posting a 25-percent gain compared to the year prior, as production of all-new 2013 Accord has ramped up
- Civic gains 27 percent compared with October 2011 with sales of 20,687 units
- CR-V, Crosstour, Ridgeline and Fit all post October sales gains

Acura
- RDX sets its sixth-consecutive monthly sales record with 2,659 units, up 62 percent compared with October 2011 and is on track for an all-time annual sales mark
- MDX and RDX combine to set new October light-truck sales record of 6,476 units, up 18 percent from October 2011

2012, was Honda Canada's third best October on record ....

Only 5000 Civic's sold last month.

Because lots of drivers don't really care what they drive. They want something affordable that's safe and good on gas. Honda has a reputation for reliability. People buy Civics.

It might be the 2nd most boring car in the world, so automotive enthusiasts don't care for it much, but to a cast majority of drivers their car is simply transportation.

Just look at the vast difference of how a Civic in Europe and Japan looks compared to the N.A bland machine we get here.

The "reliability" factor sells here, so why change the business plan if it's working.

Civics and Corollas may be bland but I don't care one bit. I can appreciate cool cars but I'm not really a car guy when it comes to owning and driving. Just want it to be reliable, efficient, durable and inexpensive to maintain.

Well there you go. Buy a Civic.
