Another Baby Left in a Car.

Man, people are stupid. Why didn't someone smash the window out immediately? that's what I would have done if I saw a child or pet locked in a car on extremely hot days like we've been having. Give the kid some air and let the stupid parent deal with the damage as a small reminder. Leaving a child alone in a car is bad, but in this heat its criminal.

Smash the window for sure, excellent idea. I would of done it a second after calling 911

I get very angry when I hear of a living creature left inside a locked up car in heat. Very.

Have you tried smashing windows? If you have the right tool (ie. hardened point hammer or broken spark plug), it's easy and the glass drops reasonably straight down. With a rock or something that is laying around, you really need to hit it hard and glass goes everywhere. I would be worried about glass hitting the child in the face.

That being said, if they were obviously in significant distress, a cut face or in the worst-case damaged vision is better than dead, but it has to be pretty bad for me to attempt it. Give the cops/tow truck drivers/owner/sketchy guy with a long reach as much time as possible to try to open the door without glass flying everywhere.

This is getting crazy. Am I going to have to start carrying tinsnips? One vent hole coming right up.

Society was better when everyone had a pocket knife. Mine happens to be an extraction knife :)

Glass punch, seatbelt cutter, dual edge blade. I may have busted in a window before to rescue a Goldendoodle after waiting 10 minutes for cops (on top of however long he was already in there).

For me this is right up there in the "Macs is seeing red" level of mad
 
Unconscionable. What rock does the parent live under to not hear about or understand the perils?

This happens more frequently than the public are made aware.

This one happened to draw a large enough crowd that it went public. Most times they dont .. unless death or serious injury occur.

And that goes for either pets or kids.

What's the common denominator? Ignorance? Or are they aware but choose to take the risk?
 
At what point are you to smash the glass anyways? This is an actual question

If I were to see this, and smash out a window, am I liable for any charges? Don't get me wrong, I would vandalize a car to save a life (pet or child) but just wondering what would be the after math for the "hero"

Lets not forget this was in a home depot parking lot. I mean, if you can't find something to break a window there, you're pretty hopeless.
 
I saw that youtube video of the people freaking out trying to break the window and i was laughing my arse off.
Why are there always so many stupid, panicking people running around, you would expect at least 1 out of 10 to be slightly intelligent.
Guy's smashing skateboards, pieces of wood, kicks, trying to break a modern car window, all in vain.
Glass is very strong, and very fragile all at the same time.
Everyone should carry a safety tool / keychain, lightweight, cheap, one click and that window spiderwebs instantly.

Auto glass only injures the occupants when you throw a giant object through it like an idiot.
