Always knew it - Toronto police cash cow

It's absolutely what they are. Nobody said they're not useful or important, many of them definitely are. But as a way of proving to yourself how artificial they are, think of how many guilty people have gone free on technicalities brought on by poor wording of the statutes.

no one ever claimed our laws are perfect, but I think they are adequate.

You mean that portion of our laws that is geared toward presumption of innocence? Obviously something that should be done away with.

I quite agree with that part of the law. But the point still stands.

Shaman, your links usually make me sad.

Stop it. =(

At least up north seems kinda clear.

I went to Ohio last week. On my way there I saw more police with cars pulled over than I see in a whole month on Ontario highways. Most people drove right at the limit. I was on cruise at 117kmh on a 65mph(105kmh) highway and no one passed me. In Ontario at 125kmh no one bothers me. We really don't have it that bad on highways.

I see that all the time when I go to Buffalo. I'm always amazed how "slow" people drive there and how courteous they are. Almost always when I see an asshat move, I see Ontario plates n the car.

We don't have it bad here, don't want a ticket, do the obey the law.

if police are only enforcing speeding to make money why would they make such a big effort to alert the media what their doing, what their enforcing and where they'll be?

Where they'll be? Not often. But this is called P.R.

In my car I drive just at the posted speed limit. Saves gas and doesn't really get you to your destination that much faster.

exactly, the message is to slow down in that area, not to make money. why else would they advertise it.

Because enough people from the 85th percentile will ignore it and I can give at least 2 good reasons:

1) Like most humans they suffer from the "won't happen to me" syndrome

2) They don't watch the same "news" or read the same rag that the service's PR department is advertising their blitz

Reminds me of the Park Lawn Gardiner ramps. They might as well build a couple of Timmies on each side, but people still get nailed there.

not true
My car reports that I get better fuel mileage going 120kmh vs. 100 kmh on the 401

P.R. That way they can say "well it's your fault, dummy....... we told everyone about it."

Not everyone drives slow old man work trucks like you
You admit to breaking the law, the cops are doing their job and you're calling them idiots? Does it really matter if they raise the limit to 120, people will then drive 135 to 140, get ticket and complain. If you don't want a ticket, obey the laws. Funny how simple that is.
