Europe is more congested and I've driven on several highways there. 120,130,140 are common posted speed limits. Highways were generally in no way better than ours, definitely narrower at times.
Canadian drivers are brutal sometimes - I take QEW, heading east towards downtown to work. Why do people slow down around Mississauga Rd. exit? The turn that is there is maybe 3 degrees yet people act as if it was a 90 degree angle or something. Nobody signals lane changes, nobody checks blind spots, drivers are preoccupied with texting or fixing their makeup. Slow pokes hog up the passing lane.
Speeding is the last thing I worry about.
Agreed.
My theory is that driving here is TOO EASY: Wide lanes, excess traffic signals, "no fault" insurance policies, and (to a lesser degree) very informal driving schools, taught by people who didn't even learn to drive in this country (i.e. they know how to operate a car, but know nothing of our etiquette, which changes by country, province and even region).
Driving is so damn boring and easy here that people pay a lot less attention than they should.
LOLOLOLOL @ the dude above saying 90 is already too fast to be going on the DVP, and that it's the "worst designed highway in North America"... pretty beefy claim there, brosev. Do you design roadways for a living?
