Hopefully with the utter disdain from the Modi government towards our sovereignty there will be a moratorium on ANYONE immigrating from India for the foreseeable future.
Never gonna happen...too much money in bringing people in. Our economy will become dependent on cheap labour and there's no turning that back...Hopefully with the utter disdain from the Modi government towards our sovereignty there will be a moratorium on ANYONE immigrating from India for the foreseeable future.
Do elaborate. This country's current leader of the opposition had to be dragged kicking and screaming through the media before he accepted the Air India bombing inquiry's results. The genie has been out of the bottle for a long time, unfortunately.
Do elaborate.
Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks for the history lesson. Lots I didn't know there. Background: In India there is a group of people that violently want to separate from the Indian state and form their own country. They have some legitimate grievances but have become, by most lenient and even Canadian standards, terrorists. In 1985 they blew up a plane that left YYZ and killed 329 people. Anyway a lot of these people and their supporters were expelled from India and ended up in Canada over the years, where they get up to killing people and sending death threats to journalists. You often see pro Khalistan people out and about with cars that have stickers of the various movements, including the old guy with an AK-47, an old man holding a spear, outlines of an Indian province with two crossed guns in the middle, etc. As an example.
So how does this relate to Jagmeet Singh? Well a few years back Jagmeet was interviewed where he refused to accept the Canadian authorities' findings of the Air India bombing perpetrators: “I don’t know who was responsible, but I think we need to find out who was truly responsible.” He also goes to Sikh independence rallies and advocates for Sikh interests in Parliament. It wasn't until some media stink was made that he finally accepted Canada's findings into the Air India bombing.
Anecdotally I also heard he also won the NDP leadership vote by signing up thousands of new party members (guess which ethnicity) in Brampton and Mississauga -- people who otherwise probably wouldn't care about the NDP party but came out to support "their candidate". This isn't just an NDP thing, all political parties do this because voting along ethnic lines is very much a thing in certain multicultural enclaves.
Thanks for the history lesson. Lots I didn't know there.
Singh is not the opposition though. He is a powerless nobody.

My favorite was the lone sales rep in Canada being called VP of Sales. When titles get elevated without commensurate authority, I don't like it.Titles
I knew a guy that didn't like being a salesman so they made him an account manager and he was happy.

All that is pretty well understood. You threw me off with your original post:Background: In India there is a group of people that violently want to separate from the Indian state and form their own country. Pierre Poilievre is the Leader of the Official Opposition of Canada.
The reason other Arabic countries won't accept Palestinians is because they are acutely aware that expungement of the Arab population from Gaza and the West Bank is the goal of Zionists within Israel. As the Palestinians expelled by Israel long ago discovered, right of return was never granted, land was stolen, and they were left stateless.Funny how no other countries want Palestinians…didn’t they try to overthrow some govts that took them in previously?
Fair point. I don’t know enough about the conflict to comment blindly. The reason other Arabic countries won't accept Palestinians is because they are acutely aware that expungement of the Arab population from Gaza and the West Bank is the goal of Zionists within Israel. Don't believe the demonizing of Palestinians you read in much of the American media. It's largely a fabrication to justify brutality and theft of land, as for a variety of reasons, US and Israeli policy has overlapped. As someone who counts many Palestinians as friends (and who are, to a man, incredibly hard working and honest), and who knows a number of people who have done either disaster relief in Palestine via the UN or charity work in that part of the world via Amnesty International or Medecins Sans Frontiers, the bad guys in that part of the world are definitely not the ones you've been conditioned to 'other' over the past 40 years. They're also not the religious extremists. Those are the ones relentlessly stealing land people have lived on for thousands of years and building settlements because they believe they are God's chosen people and all others are mere obstacles.
Honest question how are those at home in need neglected. We have adequate support generous even for those that want it.Fair point. I don’t know enough about the conflict to comment blindly.
However, Canada is yet again bringing in more and more people from overseas while neglecting those in need at home.
I'd rather fund housing for 500 homeless. There are tons of non-addicted people that just can't afford housing. They are easy to help and shouldn't trash the accommodation provided.Honest question how are those at home in need neglected. We have adequate support generous even for those that want it.

Well for one, we have tons of homeless where mental health programs can be better funded.Honest question how are those at home in need neglected. We have adequate support generous even for those that want it.

It's a fair point right back, but if you ask me who I'd rather offer someplace to live, someone who desperately needs it vs someone simply trying to get rich or someone wanting a business degree, I know my answer. We still need immigration after all, in the pyramid scheme that is our current national retirement planning. Just at the saner and more planned rates from before the crazed insanity of the current bunch of idiots.Fair point. I don’t know enough about the conflict to comment blindly.
