Should've had Ted (Rosey Toes) do the safety at your place...
Tell cycle world not to touch your bike. Call Ted, while your bike is still at cycle world, and ask him to do the safety in they're parking lot. Get your plates from the MTO, then ride over to teds shop and have your oil change done in half an hour.
they should know to hire more people when its busy season and make the process faster for their customers..i never liked how cycleworld did their business.
Ted at Rosey Toes does house calls.
Ask the sellers why they're selling 'as is'. Some don't want the 30-day safety to be expired. So ask them if you pay for safety, will they safety it before you buy it. Or bring a mechanic with you. Ted Rose from Rosey Toes can inspect the bike for you, as an example.
Ted came to my place on a really cool moped (Tomos if I remember) when he was certifying my first bike
Ted from Rosey Toes dropped by this morning to safety the 650R I'm selling. This is the bike he road in on! Actually, this is the second bike he's safetied for me. Cool guy
Ted has come as far as Newmarket to cert my bike. Def a standup guy!
Ted has certified bikes for me on a few occasions.
He would come out to a corporate location in Mississauga with almost zero notice to help us out whenever we asked... and has also certified a bike for me at almost midnight on sunday of a long weekend at my place. All at very reasonable prices for what we were asking of him!!!
Brendon,
If you can't find someone you trust that knows what they're doing, then your best bet is to get a reputable bike shop to inspect it for you. I believe Rosey Toes even does mobile safety inspections, in case the bike can't be moved (I've never used them, though, so I can't vouch)...
Aside from having Rosey Toes come out and do the cert for me, I was wondering if anyone could reccomend a shop that could do a cert for me that's located downtown or just east of downtown...
Cheers
Ted's safeties have helped many of us who can't ride the bike to a shop. The guy doesnt do "fake" safeties where the mechanic just signs off the paper without even looking at the vehicle (I know several mechanics who do this). He's a mechanic, he's licensed, he checks your bike, he gives you a safety - all without you having to pay towing fees etc...
Not that I condone illegal safeties but for Roseys sake. If he honestly does this kind of safeties can we please be nice to him and keep it to PM and not open. You are all talking about how hes helped you by doing it and now you are potentially getting him in a lot of trouble.
Lovely 'thank you' imo.
For Teds sake can we please stop trying to get his ability to do safeties revoked? If you know that he travels around please dont post it. Save that info for PM. Your not allowed to do safeties cept in the shop your registered for. I know he does everyone a favour so please do one back.
Oh snap! I must have missed the memo. Was it the one that started off with rule #1 don't talk about Ted's safeties, then rule #2 don't talk about Ted's safeties?
Oh, there it is.
Thanks tips!
He should have his licence revoked. He doesn't properly check the bikes and breaks the law as posted here many times. I wouldn't trust a bike safetied by him as you have no clue if anything was even checked.

+1 - On my first bike front pads were done. I had brand new pair in my garage, showed it to him and he told me to get the tools out. Before you accused anyone of not properly checking bikes, please know your facts and what a safety really entails. I know for a fact that Ted would not safety my friend's bike until his rear tire was replaced.
what's wrong with you people!, alot of you still don't get it. smartent up!
Shops were busy for a long time now. However decent shop is not rude on the phone and would set expectations on how long will it take.
OP is new rider, just got his ride and cycleworld does not even have basic level of customer service to manage OPs expectations.
All that aside from bad rep they got over the years screwing people over with service and sales.

I would like to know where this is written into law as I do not believe it to be true. What could prevent a certified mechanic from doing a valid safety inspection away from his place of work? If the safety certificate is done poorly the mechanic's name and license would be in jeopardy. This is true irregardless of where he does the inspection.
