299 in Victoria driver CHARGED

People should just move to Vancouver. I'd have to get caught 3 times without insurance before it'd make more sense to have the insurance!
Or 1 good accident where you cant work for the rest of your life or the other person sues you

Valid. I wouldn't ride without insurance anyway. But I know people who do and can't stop bitching and complaining about the cost/$5000 ticket they have to fight.

he only sustained 299 for breif moments
Just so you know, that's not very close to 299, he needs a speedo healer. The bike electronically limited him when it thought he was going 299. From the video I would say about 264.7 when his speedo says 299.

When he gets out of jail I'll flash his ECU for him so he can do 329 :D

Explain to me the last time rear ending someone killed the driver of the rear ended vehicle.

About 20 years ago a GSXR750 went through a civic from back to front in down town toronto killing the driver of the car and himself. In 1994 a GSXR750 hit a ford arostar so fast on the qew it went through the back door exploded and the rider ended up half way out the windshield on fire. Lots more stories.

You can't charge someone for what ifs.

which is exactly why he is not being charged for a collision or with the deaths of several children in the backseat. rather, he'll probably be charged for what he did do.

regardless of whether he actually hurt someone, laws are laws, and they are there to be obeyed. imagine someone sitting around on yonge street with a rifle popping bottles off a mailbox down the street. maybe he hits someone maybe he doesnt. maybe the bullet misses your kid as you walk by, maybe a shard of glass flies by your face. sure, the guy never hurt anyone that day, but does that give him the right to act dangerously in a public place? should he be stopped from doing so?

at high speeds there are too many factors at play. 300 kn/h is 83m/s... in the time it takes you to say "one" you would be 83 meters from where you are now. IF anything came out from teh side of the road, IF something rolled out from under a car, he would have been out of control a danger to others, and all because he was going too fast to react.

speed limits are there to give us reaction times. school zones are so low because we are supposed to have a lot of time to be able to stop when jimmy runs out after his ball. not so that you can cruise slowly by showing off your shiny new ride.

many of the laws we have are based on IF situations. thats the whole point of a speed limit, IF you are breaching it, then you wont adequately react.

bottom line, you know the rules, you play the game, you take the risk when you break them, if you get then you're paying the price. in the end, its a game you chose to play.

the mom shall sue the cops for impounding cost too

Any suit likely wouldn't survive the opening submissions. They have a racing and stunting law in BC too. They can impound the vehicle regardless of who owns it, and who was operating it. She would have to prove that it was stolen, in order to have a shot. So she could swear out a statement throwing her son under the bus in order to succeed in a lawsuit, but that's about it. That would also pretty much make the case against her son a lock.

Already said essentially, Question, IF the driver of a bike is going 300 kms and hits a car, etc and becomes airborne, how fast is the airborne driver going?

Answer: 300kms /hr.

Comprende?

On e day I was driving my Hayabusa at 120kms just cruising on the hwy and this tool in a CBR 600 flys by me must of been doing 200. I felt like catching him and kicking him off the bike at 200kms...people like this cause our rates to increase and contribute to the poor opinion of the public and insurance co's regarding sport bikes.

You don't want to ride 200 then don't. Suggesting taking out someone that is makes you exactly the same, in my books, as the tool parked in the passing lane doing the speed limit "because I'm making everyone obey the law". You want to enforce speed limits? Become a cop. Otherwise, get out of the way.

If someone is driving safely but fast why does anyone else care what they're doing? How the hell do you know that a family member isn't having a medical emergency and the person is trying to get their before they die?

What causes rates to increase is accident rates, which may or may not be due to speed but is most likely not.
The public don't like motorcycles. Never have. Get over it. Some guy riding fast on the 400 will not making them think much worse than they already do and if everyone rode the speed limit you still wouldn't change the opnion of most people that motorcyclists are evil sociopaths that wanted to do bad things to their daughters. They've thought that for about 90 years now.
