299 in Victoria driver CHARGED

They knew it was him within days, but knowing and proving in court are two different things. They charged his mother to try and pressure him, but apparently he didn't really give much of a damn about her. Judging by his appearance, he's living on the wrong "Shore."

Agreed. Even with some good witnesses, there is bound to be breaks in eye's-on surveilance or witness sightings etc. Its a pretty loose case, a lawyer should have no issue with this one.

Doesn't seem like too smart a chap, on the other hand he might be- they still have not found him.

Id wager a large number of this forum only maintain the bikes they have because they are registered to their parents.

Lol just search for insurance under parents in the insurance section. Tons of people saying they're insured under their parents and suggesting it to others.

The control that this guy exhibits over his bike at that speed is impressive. I've read that the average human brain can't cope with speeds over 220kph in terms of reaction time for braking, turning, accelerating, etc. So it's very interesting to see this guy with no race training actually riding with accuracy at 299kph.

I consistently have my bike up between 250-270kph for short periods of time on open roads.. it's effortless for a 1000cc SS... but honestly, the world is too blurry for me to make sense of at those speeds. Someone should teach this dude how to corner and get him onto a race track pronto.

I think its really ****** that the cops charged a little old lady as some form of blackmale to cause the guy to come forward.

Wasn't the guy white?

Is this chick serious?

I kinda get jinniwind's point. We all have to share the road and that means driving in a controlled, predictable manner. In fact this guy DEPENDED on everyone else driving in a controlled, predictable manner to survive. But he's not special, he doesn't have the priviledge of using the public roadway as he sees fit any more than you or I.

If his selfish behaviour were to cause someone else to crash, even indirectly, he should be held responsible. This is why we have rules of the road.

I don't see the big deal either (and I mean. let's get real for a second)
What are we talking about here? The fact someone was speeding - and nothing happened?
Or the possibility that something may happen?
Both situations seem to be pretty mundane, happening around us daily

Nor understand why they are wasting money trying to convict him

Those tickets against the mom... I'm sure she just laughed at them, pretty sure anyone could fight and win those charges.

What do you not agree with? The rules of the road, or the fact that the rules are being enforced?

:walk:

She's done like a dinner. She'll be laughing all the way to the counter to pay her fines after conviction.

Buddy what if he scares someone and the driver drives off the road or collide with another car???

Such a person shouldn't even have a drivers license.

1) Mommy never took "the fall" for this guy. She basically got slapped on the wrist with fines that if she doesn't choose to pay, nothing will even happen. No one was in any real trouble up to now.

2) imo he got charged criminally because the cops are running out of time and their evidence will become rancid like the cop's brains. For them, it's a matter of stalling for more evidence. If they can't get him first time around, best outcome is for the charges to get stayed = +1 year for him to crack / others to crack.

3) If they don't find him, guess what happens?

If she chooses not to pay, then she won't have a license. They have the option of garnishment, from account or salary. As BC has a Provincial insurance programme, they can deny you insurance.

This could really hurt mommy.

They don't collect for amounts that small.
And they have connections to AB aka where everyone who ICBC outprices goes to for license / insurance

Total fines to be applied are $1449.00. Insurance doesn't matter so much, if you don't have valid plates.
