250 riding group

I might be interested as well depending on whether another ride goes or not. I've done this route before as well and I do ride a ninja 250.
For those that haven't been to the 507 before the hwy itself is a 70kph 2 lane (1 lane up one lane down) road. Please keep in mind there likely will be other bikes on the road and if enforcement is light you will likely see other bikes doing 160+ on the 507 (keep your eyes open and do not cross the center lines). You are also in Canadian Shield meaning off road jaunts will be a ditch followed by rock in many/most places.
Don't mean to scare people but as always ride within your capabilities. My last ride had 2 people go down with the one causing the crash being a noob thinking they could ride as well as the experienced riders.

As a point of reference, I found on the Ninja 250 stock tires (IRC's) 120 kph through the corners were fine. I'm on bt-016's now so if i can make it it's going to be fun.

Another note, there are no gas stations on the 507. The only one is at the bottom and after you are done at the top.
I would suggest the group break up into in essence slower and faster groups with leaders and sweep for both.

+1. good post NealT. 507 is not to be taken lightly. It is a fun road, but remember you will be sharing with other people ... potential hooligans who'll do 160+. Be aware of your surroundings and ride within your limit.

There's a Shell gas station in Bobcaygeon, and an Ultramar at the south end of 507 at Flynn's Turn.

Myself and another buddy are thinking of tagging along and meeting new people. We both used to ride 250s if that's cool, and we've met Afelotreyu before at a missisauga charity bike wash and at another UJelly's newbie ride where we helped to lead/sweep. I don't mind sweeping at all.

Awesome, I don't want to be on another crash ride. I hope we can get enough experienced folks out to keep heads as sane as possible. I was personal witness to a 160+ throttle up wheelie exiting a corner with me being in the line of trajectory. If it had gone wrong and I was at 120 my self (closing speed 320 +) the result I don't want to think about. That was a very scary moment for me to see. yes, it was cool to see guys knee drag and one hand it at 160 but sobers you up to realize the price of failure is surely death at that speed.

The cop at the crash on my last outing on the 507 said they make bets every morning on whether they'll be attending to a downed rider on the 507. Anyway, I hope I can make it and hope you do as well.

Jinniwind and other new riders, I wouldn't worry too much about your bike if it's running fine now, just make sure the chain is lubed and any excess slack taken up, tire pressure is correct and you have a place for water etc.
If you are unaware of group ride etiquette please read the sticky.

Not much, just giving a "heads up" to those who haven't done these road/s before. I will try and attend, won't know till maybe tonight.

Where is the meeting location? I may decide to join up for this too. I can handle technical routes, but I always keep it to limit +20 on the 507. Way too many cops for me to risk another +49 km/h ticket. ;) I already got mine for this year. I don't mind leading or sweeping or whatever.

I was just kidding.. I am planning to have a serious talk with everyone before we leave..

I've met you before! :p Remember at the first HUEG noob ride that ended at Don Mills and Steeles? I'm the orange haired guy that was talking to you after the ride. I have a blue yamaha.

Your signature terrifies me. That's how I got my last ticket. My buddy rode up beside me and rubbed his nipple over his riding coat and I took off to try and get away... opp was coming the other way and pulled us both over for 65 over lol. Only ticketed us for 49 so we wouldnt be towed. Said we scored points with him for stopping, a bike earlier that day tried to run from him.

I have a feeling this ride is getting way too big with other bigger size bikers wanting to join our 250cc ride...im fine with that , but dont wanna end up with 20 bikes ...

Don't worry about the size too much, if you look at the route it's straight forward and from what I can tell there will be a good mix of experienced riders such that we can have people interspersed so we don't all lose new people because the lead is way ahead.
I don't think i've met afelotreyu before but i'm pretty sure all leads and sweeps will not want to leave people behind so it wouldn't surprise me that major turn offs will have us wait till everyone has caught up again.

Don't stress, this will be fun. Remember we are all here for support so no one gets left behind that's what sweeps are for.

Oh, if I make it i also volunteer for sweeping or whatever is needed.

^^ What he said. I have done similar routes to this many times this year already, plus I have a fold out map of Ontario and my GPS is hardwired to my battery. Plus, we are already starting the ride in the middle of nowhere so traffic lights shouldn't REALLY be a problem.

There should also be a ride organized at a later date to do up the Muskoka area roads. Some of the best roads I've been on in Ontario by far. Many of them are much more technical and put the 507 to shame, though, so I'd suggest people have a little seat time before trying them out. But then, I'm just getting ahead of myself. I also have a car trip to Cape Breton to plan for the end of August.

Ditch your car. We just got back from a East Coast tour, and Cabot Trail is one you do not want to miss. Ride your bike out there, it's really not that bad once you pass Montreal. It's even better if you cut through the U.S.
Have your rain gear ready.

Lets save on gas and triple up.

Jinniwind :D no problem at all. Btw I will also come in from Brampton and I know that gas station, been through that area tons of times. So if anyone is coming from the west i'll post up later if i'm good and I can lead a group east for the meet up. I would suggest we meet at the gas station at the SE corner of Hwy 50 and CountrySide Dr/Nashville at 7:00 AM LATEST. We'll head east to Hwy27 north up to King Rd and then a quick jaunt up Yonge to Bloomington and east to Markham where the gas station is on the SE corner.
you can also txt me at four one six four five seven five seven four five
