Damn Noemi Fox just won a gold for Australia up against the World #1 and two others in Cross Kayak.

She's the sister of the double gold winner Jess Fox who has four golds from her Olympics career. K1 AND C1 golds in the Paris olympics..crazy.

As a one time very marginal kayaker I can safely say winning gold in both kayak and canoe is a terrific feat.

Canada used to have a presence in this sport. My first wife was the Canadian Downriver champ in the 70s.

And they will both tell you , the olympics is ALL about money , the organizers , the event , the atheletes . Yes its a spectacle and you often see special moments where athletes will pull out increadible performances. oh yeah , its also ALL about the millions of dollars involved.

Yes! This is exactly why the Olympics hold no interest for me. I actually feel sorry for the athletes who are only pawns in the schemes to make others rich.

That’s how athletics and performing arts work. Only tiny sliver of athletes and performers can feed themselves.
 
Well I didn't think skateboarding was really an Olympic sport.
After watching this....I stand corrected...and this was 2 years ago and she's competing right now in Paris
 
I really should not have dissed skateboarding ...Aus just added a gold !!!!
It was introduced in 2020 and sure engages the younger kids.
Every municipality can have a skatepark...unlike say a velodrome.

Aus up for a medal in the track cycling as well as the Aus team just broke the world record in a heat !!

Video games got their own platform for the couch potato

Indeed there is money being spent but at least they have something to show unlike Canada.
Mind you Canada does okay in the winter.
