2023 Day Trips!

Went down to the Rochester Cafe for a milkshake and lunch on the weekend.
We were down in Vermont, near Waitsfield.

Also caught this random image of someone coming down the mountain when we stopped:

One place we saw earlier was the Star Trek set:

What the heck. Is the that the set from the TOS series? And is this at someone's house. I recall someone acquired the set and restored it
Either way pretty cool! (y)

It's a recreation, with a couple of props from the original set. I can pop up some more photos if you like.
They've rebuilt the entire ship, and I think they're in the process of building TNG.
Kirk/Shatner is going to be there July 7-9th. He's previously broken a few things that he also broke on the original set.
Shop – Star Trek Original Series Set Tour It's in Ticonderoga, New York, which is pretty much due east of Toronto and due south of Montreal.

Edit: There used to be a recreation of the bridge on the top floor of Mr. Gameways Ark on Yonge St., but I don't know what happened to it.

Yes please. I am very curious about this now, and if it's that close, might give it some thought if I can go check it out!
(wow it's not really that far, just looked at googlemaps!)

Yesterday's ride up to Parry Sound and areas.

My intial plan was to hit up 141 & 124. But when I got to Bracebridge looking at the traffic there must have been construction on 141 because it was noticably heavy in certain spots.
Took 118 west to Port Carling, then 7 north to Rosseau and the rest of 141 to Parry Sound.

Some activity in the harbour.

Saw a plane land in the water, some times it's the simple things to make you smile

Then along 124 to Magnetawan for a quick pit stop. More boats.

And Sundridge, been curious about this place, not much to see really, very resort like.

HWY 124 was nice, some area's close to the water, good road surface, and practically empty. Will have to go back and do it the other direction.

Rode out to Calabogie and Barry's Bay today. 11hrs/1000km with glorious sunshine all day.
Barely any traffic and the roads were in really amazing shape - better than I remember most of them from last year.

The wind noise has been a bit annoying on my morning commutes, so I bought one of these adjustable windscreen spoilers. It's actually really good and cut the wind noise down so much that the music from helmet communicator was really clear. And despite how ugly they are, while riding I didn't even notice it.

Also got to do a proper long ride on this new to me bike and break in this new Corbin seat - very comfy!

Did a run up to Big Shute and Bala today, then across 118 to Minden. Nothing too special. I wasn't really sure how far I would go as there was suppose to be some rain in the afternoon, which didn't happen. Some dark clouds and windy, not much sun or warmth.

Just outside of Coldwater these guys appeared.

Those guys scare me. Seen a couple cut in half by motorcycles. Hit one and you earn the hame Deerslayer.

There's a ski hill a couple of hours south of where I live. This is the back road to the resort that nobody takes, because it's not paved.

Which leads to a nice and twisty, steep gravel road with great views of the valley.

Ooooh... this is going to be fun!

Nice way to start the weekend!
Seems like your lithium battery or charging issue is fixed. I didn't see the resolution but interested as I'm looking at lithium for a battery replacement.

Nope, no resolution yet. This GS is a loaner from the dealership after they f-d me over. They owned up to it and said they would let me ride this one until my bike is whole again. They estimated 2-3 weeks for parts from Germany, so with the supply chain problems, I figure I'll have this bike for at least 6 weeks.

My only problem now is that I feel like I need to put as much mileage as I can on this loaner, so I don't ride my other bikes as often. My goal is to return it with double the mileage that it came with on the odometer. Is that petty? I don't care.

Also, trying to do as much dirt and gnarly trails on this one... :D

Buy it from them after and low ball them because it has high mileage and it has been abused offroad by the previous rider.

LOL. I like it!

Unfortunately, this model is 4 years older than mine (but it does have half the mileage). And they held back the luggage as well! They knew if they gave me one that's as new with lower mileage and all set up for touring, I'd never return it.

"Sorry, I'm half-way to Peru right now. But I'll be back in four and half years!"

Well, did my first "big" trip (for me anyway) over the weekend. Starting in Toronto/Scarborough and basically East through Port Perry and then a loop around Lake Simcoe. Looked something like this:

Light on the photos as most of our stops/breaks were on the shorter side. But there's this one, with the two mile eating touring machines 😅

Total distance, with stops and getting to and from starting point etc.. was a little under 400km. And honestly, on this bike at least, I can't see myself doing much more than that. My back was killing by the end of it, ass was hurting, and the family jewels were also feeling it after a less than graceful dismount/landing from an overly ambitious power wheelie. Everything got a bit crunched by the near side of the tank 🙃

But overall a fun trip. Hit some cottage traffic on the way home on the 400, #smartplanning so total time was about 7 hours.

I can't tell if you are being serious or not, this seems very much like a @Maniac answer.
Wouldn't it make you hot though?
There are various different kinds out there, some that are moisture wicking and loose fitting, so they allow you to stay cool, especially if you keep moving.
