2012 zx14

Its a nice fast bike....but its not that fast, dont fool yourself

I have yet to see less than a mid 9 second 1/4 mile time for the ZX14 and Ricky Gadson pulled a high 8. Below are the figures for the cars including the Veryon (which costs US$240000.00 and has 1000 hp). It's hard to fool oneself when one has the facts. There are a handful of comparable, purpose built race cars that are street worthy, but then we could compare a massaged 14 against them too.

2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggra 0-60 mph 2.8 Quarter Mile 10.9
2011 Ferrari 599XX 0-60 mph 2.9 Quarter Mile 10.7
2012 Audi R8 GT 0-60 mph 3.4 Quarter Mile 11.4
2012 Mercedes C63 AMG 0-60 mph 3.8 Quarter Mile 12.0
2011 McLaren MP4-12C 0-60 mph 2.9 Quarter Mile 10.8
2011 Veyron 16.4 Super Sport 0-60 mph 2.4 Quarter Mile 9.6
2012 Nissan GT-R 0-60 mph 2.9 Quarter Mile 11.1

I feel like somebody was talking about me??????????

I'll classify you as a semi-wimp.
 Good enough

All joking aside I think the 2012 ZX14 looks amazing and I read they changed a lot to this years model.

I think these make great street bikes however I would probably have to ride no insurance to own one before i turn 30 :/

If you can find a Bugatti Veyron for US$240,000, I want in. I'll take 2 actually. :p

P.S. Before you all get uppity here, just having fun with RedDog - he actually missed a '0' in the price tag i.e. US$2,400,000

Add some turns into those quarter mile runs, and then you've got what I consider a real race....And then the cars win!

This is old but its been done many times, Id be surprised if you could lap a 14 better then this racer on an R1

Im sure the guy in the Veyron is gonna be super jealous when a ZX14 pulls up at the lights.

Again do you think you could pull the same lap times on 14 as an 1198S?

And for every video you can find of a bike beating a car, there is one of a car beating a bike...

Comparing sport bikes to supercars is stupid, there is much your u get in car for that money...Our seats are make of cheap plastic looking fabric, not beautifully stitched leather.

It's fairly odd that you would compare a motorcycle to a supercar and then call it stupid to do so. You should probably have just left at that from the beginning.

The BMW S1000rr also has the second fastest time around the Top Gear test track. My response is simply to those people that constantly post that vid as "proof" of a cars superiority on a road course. It's not an open and shut case and given the track the motorcycle can still be well ahead of these supercars. The ZX14 definitely not, I'm not that crazy.

Here is the video of the S1000rr vs Ariel Atom V8 (fastest production car around the track). All the videos seem to be the same, bike wins in straights but under braking and corners the cars tend to overtake.

So has anyone found/negotiated a deal for a 2012 zx14R for less than MSRP? Seems like they are going for almost $4000 cheaper south of the border

Its silly to compare bikes to cars. You might as well compare an apache to a concord.

I was thinking Greg instead of putting a small fortune into mine this winter I could have put extensions on a 2012 and been in the same ballpark....Have any intentions of letting it go down the strip at cayuga?

AH-64 Apache - Top Speed: 192 mph
Concord - Top speed: 3400 mph

ZX14 can probably out accelerate both the Apache and Concord. :D

And if post above mine is correct, the 14 can even beat the Apache in top speed, now THAT'S impressive. :)

It'll be interesting to see the answer to your question. If purchased in the U.S. does the warranty transfer over? All you'd need to pay is 13% HST at the border right?
