2012 Auto Show

It's safe to say that every maker with the exception of Toyota has had less than stellar hybrid sales.

After Toyota, the next best selling hybrid is the hyundai sonata which only sold around 19,000 units. The rest of the makers are in the 5000-13000 range.

This suggests the current state of today's hybrid market, and the fact that Toyota won't be relinquishing the sales crown anytime soon, until a competitor creates a truly interesting concept and brings to market.

Interesting tidbit. The CRZ is the only hybrid on the market available with a stick shift.

This is incorrect, along with many other things you have posted in this thread.

GM is developing a diesel for NA market. As is Mazda.

Hybrids and full electrics are not the (near) future. They are a very small part of the current market share, and are estimated to represent ~ 5% of total market share by 2025.

.

Looks to me like the future is here, about 15 years early.

McLaren P1 Hybrid super car.

Ferrari LaFerrari Hybrid super car.

Acura NSX hybrid super car with 3 electric motors. (coming soon).

Virtually every midsize car maker has a hybrid, Camry, Sonata, Fusion, Accord, etc.

I won't even get into all the hybrids introduced at the Geneva auto show from Audi, Kia, Volvo, Lexus and just about everybody else.

Diesel will be part of the near future because there are just places in the world and vehicles traveling distance thats makes current and near future electrics not practical yet.

It will be bio diesel, cleaner and renewable. Hard to source here in Ontario right now but your exhaust smells like french fries.
