Been stuck in the same spot at 404/401 for 30 mins

So, the tranny was still stuck in reverse last night after a good thaw so I tipped it up and pulled the belly pan off. Didn't even snap a bolt! Turns out a mouse had made a nest in there last year and the nesting material (and probably piss) had ensured there was a good layer of rust cementing...

Been stuck in the same spot at 404/401 for 30 mins

I disagree. Almost everyone is actually using a snow thrower. It has a mechanical device which contacts the snow and sends it out the chute. A snow blower has a huge fan that blows air at the snow and moves it that way. We had one on the railway.

Been stuck in the same spot at 404/401 for 30 mins

That's what I did, but I left the snowblower outside for a bit in the spring, and some water somehow got in the carb. all frozen up. Some must have also gotten in the tranny, as it's stuck in reverse. Still was last night after sitting in the garage with heat one it. I don't want to have to...

    The more meat thread

First deer I shot was in Alberta. It had been feeding on the grain fields above the river valley all fall. Best venison I have had to date. You could cut it with a fork. There's a polish restaurant in Montreal that served wild boar. That's super tasty as well. I was hoping some of those...

Been stuck in the same spot at 404/401 for 30 mins

Same for me, except my wife's work was cancelled (blood services mobile clinic). Had to put the Blazer in 4WD a few times. I was planning ahead yesterday and checked the snowthrower for function and found it had gotten some water in the carb before I got it under cover last spring. Took it...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

My stairs have hardwood on the risers, but carpet on the treads. Cost a bit extra in labour but you get the look of hardwood but no slip hazard. The grandkids love sliding down the carpet.

    Beef

OK. I haven't been on here for a few days and some of you had some comments that I wanted to respond to. Finding a farmer and talking to them works best. Find out when they are sending a cow off to be butchered and be prepared to jump in then, or let them know you want a cow, or a portion...

    Beef

I've got two neighbours with cattle. Every couple of years another couple and we buy a cow from them and have it butchered. Other than that, another buddy runs a local Metro and he texts me when they've got a really good deal running on prime rib, or steaks. I have no idea what the normal...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

You can also get boxes that have extra volume, without extra depth. Maybe those would work in your case...

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

Yeah, I debated clarifying that, but I did mean early 1900s. I wonder when we won't need to specify?

We Know you Ride, But do you Shoot?

On the subject of buying guns, at present, I don't believe there is any requirement to tell anyone if you have purchased, or sold a gun. You should verify the person has a valid PAL, but that's all. If you are a business, that may be different. I just received five guns from my neighbour...

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

This was in Kingston, and there was a pile of them right near the door. Maybe a local sale only.

Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Princess Auto had ammo boxes on sale last week, I think it was 4 different sizes for $18.99. Not sure if the sale is still on.

    Anyone making homemade beef jerky?

Fair enough. It's not for everyone. I was doing it one time and the bottle slipped and a bunch went in. Way too strong smoke flavour, and it put me off for a bit.

    Covid booster

Got my booster last Friday. Sore arm Saturday, but that's all.

    Generators

Gotta love that it took them until 2019 to respond to a 2013 issue.

    Anyone making homemade beef jerky?

If you're just making it in the oven, add a few drops of liquid smoke to that to give it a more authentic taste. If you're going to smoke it, you don't need to do that obviously.

    Anyone making homemade beef jerky?

I made it a few years back, but mostly with venison. It was a good texture from what I recall. Perhaps if you cut it a bit thicker, you could get the texture you want. It could then dry a bit more, but the middle would remain as a backing that keeps it from just breaking apart. I need to...

    more tech we don't need

I used a DE safety razor for decades, then couldn't find replacement blades, so I switched to Harry's. Luckily my work doesn't require me to shave every day and two days growth is OK with the multi blade. Monday morning is a bit of a challenge for clogging after not shaving since Friday...

    Parking in Snow Emergency Zone

Good to see you're still around and posting Salos. I always get worried when I don't see your name for a while.
