Who's still riding? (Fall & Winter 2024 Edition)

I think there was discussion a while back on whether or not winters were as bad as they used to be anymore. For everyone who said it's just in our heads, suck it :)

Think Toronto’s winters aren’t like they used to be? A new report details how — and why — they’ve changed

We've gained 13 days above freezing in the last 10 years. In conclusion, get out and ride y'all.

Anyone who actual lives in Toronto already knows this.
I use to put my winter tires on mid Nov, because there was actual snow fall around this time.
Now I might put my tires on at the end of January.

We now get more what I call gloomy dull weather, today is a perfect example, barely any sun, way overcast, just blah.
At least with snow the light is brightened up somewhat, and cold days it usually sunny, like what might happen this weekend when it goes below freezing.

I think it's more about temps.
Somewhere around 5°C, the summer tires stiffen up. Winter tires stay flexible. I notice it in the cold / rainy weather, it's better with the winter's on.
(I was probably one of the last holdouts to use 2 sets of tires, but now I'm a believer).

Saw someone on a Scrambler going north up the 404 (at some clip) an hour ago.

Brine truck going south a few minutes later.

If I ran Summers in this temp I'd end up in a ditch.

I saw a guy in London on a bike from the 80's today. I was in the cage.
Roads are nice here now, hope to get out before more snow....

Snow tomorrow unfortunately.

So far so good!

Wife is working from home but says she's too stressed for sex on the lunch break. I tried explaining that I know just the thing to cure her but she's having none of it.

I will have my lunch break ride one way or another, so I'm going out on two wheels instead. Something I bought two weeks ago is now on "Boxing Day Sale" pricing (yup...). Going to do a short 10-15 km round trip to Yorkdale and back with my receipt for a partial refund. Get $25 back + get my ride in = win.

Last time we had lunch time fun a kid popped out 9 months later…

Not often the MIL is out of the house during the day as kids are in school…

Rode out on Bloor Street today morning to apply for a passport renewal. Every driver and pedestrian was looking at me like I’m hit in the head.. 🥹

The heated grips are really helping. But unable to ride continuously more than 30/35 minutes. Next 10 days seem to be warmer.
