That is an interesting point. If residents and municipalities want to be bitchy about superboxes, I don't think there is any requirement about how close CP needs deliver at all. CP could buy an industrial unit in the bad/cheap part of each town and put tens of thousands of boxes inside the unit. Cameras for safety/security, protected from weather, mail delivered to a box for each address as required. As some one who goes down town to the Post Office to get my mail I simply don't care how they feel.
Open m-f 9am to 3 pm like to post office was where I used to have to go to get my mail. Superboxes were a huge improvement. That is an interesting point. Then they can pay for the luxury. Nobody wants to give it up until it costs them money. At that point, the vast majority will let it go. No CP mandate requires delivery to your door. We have a crap ton of elections right now. Run it as a referendum on the ballot. "Do you want to keep mail delivery to the door? Postal codes that keep this service will have $200 added to their yearly tax bill for each resident".
They don’t have to deliver to every address, just close. Installing Super mailboxes in Forest Hill and the other 5 million homes that get a daily handy from CPC fixes everything.Late to the party here…
Do you realize that most European countries literally charge double what CP does?
Take Germany for example - you can fit the country into Ontario almost FIVE TIMES. Consider that our country is what, 5500km coast to coast, now add in transportation costs…
Now, add in the CP is MANDATED BY LAW to deliver to EVERY SINGLE ADDRESS IN CANADA.
Couriers simple Nope out to that and refuse to deliver to remote areas, as CP does it. Their costs would be astronomical and they simply can’t afford to do that, unless they charge 300-400% of what CP does.
Hopefully you can understand the issue now.
Ok, charge them $10/week. See how many would be in love with that! You don’t understand how people wiht home delivery fight against Community Mail Box conversion.
It’s a luxury that basically costs them nothing.
People are loath to give up luxuries.
Spoke to a local CP Courier today and he mentioned they are doing away with 'going home early with full days pay'. He didn't sound pleased.
So like the real world. If our installers return to the shop early they can go home without pay or pick up a broom.Spoke to a local CP Courier today and he mentioned they are doing away with 'going home early with full days pay'. He didn't sound pleased.
As far as I can tell they don't have their work tracked via handheld devices. Dunno about that! They will figure out the work around , there is a reason you see so many HVac, sparkies , installer vans at Tim’s at three PM . Going back to the mother ship involves brooms and stuff .

Work at the depot, more work out in the field or 'punch out'. That's the gist I got.Does that mean they will be working the full shifts.. or finishing their set work load and just sitting around the depot dong nothing til it's home time?
Management: Why are our taxi/mileage bills so much higher?Work at the depot, more work out in the field or 'punch out'. That's the gist I got.
Driving around isn't really possible. Not only do vehicles and your hand held have GPS, but your efficiency is tracked. Don't forget CP is really more park the vehicle and walk.Management: Why are our taxi/mileage bills so much higher?
Postie: I was driving around to ensure the boxes were free of snow as I had time at the end of my shift.
Yes it's up to the courier to decide if it's safe or not. Technically they have right to refuse delivery to any property where snow has not been cleared.I haven't had mail delivered to my super box in over a week. My father, who lives 5 streets away has been getting his mail delivered to his super box ever day. There is a bit more snow around my super box and it is a 25 foot walk from the nearest driveway to even get to it. Could that be the reason why no one has dropped off any mail?
100% we are tracked by our ID card scan-in when we enter the depot, then when we log in to our PDT, and again when we log out. This is one of the things that CP is pointing their fingers at in the negotiations. As far as I can tell they don't have their work tracked via handheld devices. Dunno about that!
