The Bad Drivers of Ontario Thread

Upgrade from the normal "ebike" DUI mobile. Went very poorly for the driver though. What are the odds they can scrape together enough to pay for the towtruck charges? The next obstacle will be the 10K in fines they need to try to fight. Their DUI mobile driving days are over.

I see these things zipping around here. Fully enclosed. 4 wheels. Appear to be going 20-30kph (if not more), and blow right through any stop sign in their way.

They are potentially legal. There is a pilot program for them with a bunch of restrictions. Like ebikes, if you don't check all the boxes, you are an unlicensed motor vehicle and in for a world of hurt if cops bother stopping you.

Interesting article. Truck A posted a video showing truck B passing on a double yellow and almost getting in a head on crash. Comments ripped truck B. Truck B company publishes their own dash cam showing that truck A pulled out right in front of truck B. Convenient editing by truck A changed the whole story.

People always seem so surprised that a truck that is carrying north of 35 TONNES can't stop on a dime.

Here's video of the crash. I don't think truck touched the brakes. Hit at 101 km/h. Bad luck for the car being stopped in the shadow of the bridge. Trucker should still have realized that bad things were coming well before impact.

Edit:
Different version showing driver texting and driving. F that guy. Cancel his license forever.

Tow truck driver has been charged with dangerous. Hopefully it sticks. While I have very little faith in the justice system taking appropriate action, with a criminal driving conviction hopefully insurance companies ensure he never drives a commercial vehicle again.

Doubtful. You can kill 16 kids and if your Dangerous Driving conviction will result in you getting deported it gets reduced because it's too much of a hardship, so........

That's constant with truck drivers, being on the phone. I get on the 401 at winston churchill and get off at Dixie. not every day but most times i can count at least three times i see trucks changing lanes with no concerns if any other vehicle are already occupying it

From what I see that tends to be newer transport operators. The guys who look like long time veterans never seem to be on the phone.

The white Volvo transport w. auto tranny is the new beige Corolla.
Are there manual trucks in fleets anymore? I could see OO going with them but for a fleet, auto really helps even the skill/mileage gap between the wheel holders (sorry PP, not all truck drivers are wheel holders but the percentage is growing quickly).

Provincially approved but needs municipal approval as well, which is rare.

A slow fragile car sized uninsured vehicle drive by an unqualified person. What could go wrong?

Marcus Jordan, son of Michael Jordan pulls the race card after fleeing a traffic stop and turning onto a railroad track with his $330,000 grocery getter. It's up to the axles in crushed stone and a train is due.

There is a YouTube video about the dangers of highway 11 up north and some blame it on poorly trained truck drivers. It implies that fleet owners can do their own training, bypassing the school system. There are also hidden videos showing bribery to fast track the licensing.

Also the foreign worker gig is apparently open to truck drivers.

The video ends a bit racist blaming one particular sector for the problem.

"You are famous-adjacent. You are not famous. The law is the law."

I don't know what it would be like to walk in his dad's shoes and I'm not an expert on the Jordan family.

Daddy is a multi-billionaire and famous for what he accomplished. I get the impression that junior played some college ball but doesn't have a remarkable career.

Assuming daddy funded the $330,000 car, I assume daddy would fund med school or other lofty aspiration if junior was interested.

I could see it being hard to take on a menial job if I could just tap into the family's billions as needed. The good or bad the kid could do is scary.

Which is why many wealthy people are smart and make the kids find their own path. Entitled brats rarely benefit society. I like the plan where a trust was established. Kids got a yearly payout based on job type and income. Pick a high paying job that doesn't help others (eg wall street) and trust may give you 100k a year. Pick a low paying job that helps others (eg social worker) and trust may give you 200K a year. Do nothing and it gives you nothing. Basically allows you to pick a career without being worried about whether it can support you.

If I paid for your 340k car and you were an idiot and managed to get pulled over and caught with narcotics, I may pay for the lawyer, but that's the end. Time to live on your own earned money.

Note: Forward post to Joe Biden.

There is no shortgae of spoiled brats today and of all ages and income groups. It's not hard to find a job in Canada and training is free. The catch is that you don't get a Ferrari company car, bimbo blonde secretary and entourage. I don't know if that can be fixed in a lifetime, especially in a nanny state.
