I'd totally go for 1 of those 5N's if they weren't so pricy ... maybe in 3 years when the P2 is at lease end they'll be reasonable on the used market.

Subaru has $10k off and 0.5% financing on their EV. 359 kms max range per charge makes it a little more around towner.
I’m frequently driving 400 kms trips and my stops don’t have ev charging. I’ve been looking.
I’m keeping an open mind. I’ll likely have to update my panel if I go ev. Have big circuits for the HVAC, Hot Tub, Range and Dryer. The wash and dryer are earmarked for replacement so, I could go gas there and open up a spot for ev charging.
The wife isn’t warm to the idea of having a vehicle payment right now but, I can’t help myself.
Lost the company vehicle and pay mileage now. The Beemer might just get ridden for some work trips. The Sena works fine for calls and the client doesn’t expect me to wear a suit.
It’s only money and the environment right? Who knows! I might pull the trigger yet. Let me go back to that MachE and see its range again……….hmmmmm……

For washer/dryer, look hard at the all-in-ones. They have heat pump dryers so they run on 15A/120V circuit. You can also get separate heat pump dryer if you want but for various reasons, I feel it's less compelling. Being able to throw in dirty clothes and get them out in the morning clean and dry and no possibility of swamp smells if you forget to move them over is nice. That frees up a bunch of effective electric capacity to use for something else. I don't know if that argument would fly with ESA though. Is a dryer plug required by code?

Went to drive a 2023 IONIQ5. Not bad. Not great. Fast but very uncomfortable seats.
The interface took some getting used to but the drive was very good, and spongy compared to the GTI. Drove more like the Odyssey.
The rear seats were very roomy, and the trunk looked bigger but the cutoff from the window take some space away.
Overall good experience. May buy one…just not this one.
I almost spit my water out when they said 10-11% interest rates….’but if you buy CPO we may be able to get you 5-6%’.
The Mach-E was def a better ride, although smaller. And I can’t remember the Bolt but I’ll drive that soon also.
I felt the Ecoboost Maverick drove better than this IONIQ5.

No charging *at* your destination, or along your route?
What route out of curiosity? Most people are surprised to find that there *is* actually charging out there that they didn't know about, and in many cases, have driven past many times, but just never noticed, mainly because EV chargers (even banks of fast chargers) are often not big and in-your-face like a gas station.
Sheesh, I thought being in the 8%'s was high on pre-owned when we went to sign the papers in Montreal, even with a credit score in the mid 800's, but I guess I shouldn't complain. We financed it for 84 months (which was irrelevant given our plan, but opened up payment flexibility) and plan to pay it off probably inside 2 or 3 years, open loan. I'm paying 8.99% on my motorcycle right now and will probably move what's left of that that to my LOC in the next few months as that interest rate gap is getting wider (favouring the LOC) and then accelerate payments on that, and once that's gone hopefully by the end of this year, accelerate onto the car loan. I hate having payments, but I couldn't find a way to pull $30K out of our butts sadly.

Yeah, Toronto is littered with chargers, lots of Level 2 and 3 everywhere.
Check out www.plugshare.com and filter for level 2 & 3 only - it's an eye opener for many people. I've had friends tell me they saw chargers there that they literally drove past every day for years that they never knew existed.
Even with basically perfect credit scores about ~8.5% is about best anyones getting on financing used bikes or cars right now. If you've got something better, do share, I'll gladly move to it lol.
Heloc is better by a bunch. Mine is 5.2 now.

Looks like $55K to the mid 60's depending on options?
Be careful with some of those advertised prices you see online, expecting to get another $10K off of them - I found a lot of dealers on Autotrader and their own websites now conveniently including incentives in their prices, so that $50K id4 that you think you'll get for $40K is actually $60K with the 10K already subtracted in the advertised price, so the actual price you'll end up paying is $50K, not $40K.
0% financing is nice, absolutely, but on a new car rates are always going to better as the manufacturer is eating some of those costs. The used market is always vastly different in interest rates when banks vs manufacturers are involved in actually doing the financing.
Used market was already 4-7% compared to 0-2% new. No incentive to buy down the rates.
Of course if you buy the CPO warranty they were always willing to do something.
I did like that IONIQ5 but want to drive the Maverick hybrid, Mach-E and Bolt.

If new stuff is getting incentives, I’m hoping it improves the used market as well. I’m still fearful of used EVs. I know the batteries have warranty but, I’m more concerned with the electronic controls of things as they age.
Understand they are looking to get you in the door and then sell you the premium models left in stock as all the low to mid trim never came or went just as fast as it arrived.
The base ID4 has a smaller battery so you have to up the trim to Pro. And no dealers have 2wd with longer range of 468 kms. They have plenty of the pro trim with awd. $50km plus tax and in stock. Too rich for me.
Seems to be the price point for most new EVs.
I can do the math on petro savings. Have enough receipts and mileage reports to work it out. I’d try to keep charging at home but, recognize I’d have to bite the bullet for some top up charging from time to time. Leasing won’t cut it for me. Drive too much. So it’s purchase only.
Used does make sense from a cost factor. Was just hoping the cash incentives combined with decent financing offer might make up the difference.
I could make the trip to Quebec. But, my wife isn’t on board with the whole idea yet.
Time will tell and I’ll definitely share what ever happens. Even if it’s just window shopping for the time being.
