Who's still riding? (Fall 2017 / Winter 2018 edition)

Was riding yesterday, was such a nice day. Then got taken out by a suv at 7pm. Broken collarbone, and bike is more than likely totalled. Keep riding but stay safe.

Don't these chargers require constant power?

They do, and yes, I sometimes forget that for people who can't store their bikes where that's accesable (underground parking for example) removing the battery may be the logical option, but my comments are directed towards the many who still seem to worry about leaving a battery out in the cold even when it *is* on a tender. If your bike is parked anywhere where electricity is possible, then just connecting the tender to the bike directly and leaving the battery IN the bike is perfectly fine regardless of the outdoor temps.

Even a bike under a tarp in someones backyard (for an extreme example) could be hooked up easily enough via an extension cord and some simple tactics (IE, a ziplock bag) to keep water out of the sensitive bits.

Wow sorry to hear that. Hopefully you heal quickly and without issue.

Speedy recovery Mikbusa. Keep us posted if you don't mind.

Frig, just saw this. Heal up, at least it's happened now and not at the beginning of the riding season next year.

SUV driver charged/at fault?

Yes, no tickets for me, even insurance assigned me zero blame based on police report.

Wow bro keep us posted, where did this happen? At an intersection?

Filled up for the last time this season i think, wash her up and pack her away on the weekend.

I think I'm going to do the same. I'll probably fill her up tomorrow and keep her away for the winter. I've dragged it on for way too long haha, and I heard that riding on cold roads is bad for the tires (confirm?). The weather is going back down again at the end of next week.

Ouch! sorry to hear that!
Curious, when you say more than likely totalled, is that your call or somebody else's ?
... naturally, because it's a motorcycle you are not entitled to rent a motorcycle until yours is repaired or replaced, whereas the other guy probably already has a rental SUV by now, but based on the damage to their windshield you must be in the market for a brand new helmet, yes? Do you get to replace that immediately with one of your choice, or how does that work?

Was at a bus stop bus pulled over and a suv used the bus as a shield to pull out and stop midway.

That is rough. For sure people aren't expecting to see us at this time of year. It gets pretty dark just after 5pm. No excuse for the driver not to see you, and to pull out when they can't see past a bus...

I got out of work real early; went riding from noon until just before dark.

Winterize the bike... again. Small price to pay for riding at the end of November.
