The FG-17 actually retails anywhere from $250-299 depending on the year/design. I'm looking into purchasing a large lot of them for my work and selling them Snell rated for sub $200. But yes, they are a good helmet, Both N3WMAN and I wear them and I have seen quite a few others around the track. Best fitting and feeling helmet I've ever had.

I also have a FG-17. Best fitting helmet for my head shape I've come across, regardless of price.

I just wish they made 25mm cheek pads. I'm between the 30mm and 20mm.

It's a racing helmet. It might be my headshape actually as if I move the helmet up a little I can see but it'll eventually fall again but my RF1100 saved my *** so I'm a bit biased.

Definitely sounds like you have the wrong headshape for the helmet. You may be like me and be more of a round oval, and the Shoei may be too much of a long oval for your head. The extra front to back head space often means that when it fits snug/comfortable on the sides and every where else, there's a little extra space front and back near the crown of your head, which tends to make the helmet lean/twist forward/downwards in the front. I have a bit of a problem with this in my Icon helmet that I otherwise really like. Seems the more round/oval of your typical HJC fits me much better. A CL-17, FG-17 or IS-17 will likely be my next helmet (yes I know the IS-17 is not Snell rated).

The RF-1200 is not a racing helmet. It can be used as such but it wasn't designed for it.

Yep. If you want a racing helmet Shoei designed the X series specifically for racing.

I'll try the X14 first then look into those helmets you mentioned. I've never had this problem on the street.
