Shoei X-14 just got from Bluestreak

That's admirable, completely valid and a pretty good use of the forum. You should have led with that! LOL. Next time, add that to your original post.

Yes I should've. I forget sometimes that people on here are "special needs" and have nothing better to do.
But it's nice to know the windows on the short bus are still clean.

I'm actually amazed that people consider a brain an expensive thing to protect.

I hope your helmets never get put to the test.

Awe.. I was gonna just quote what you wrote and then you changed it... That was excellent - should have left as it was.
Would have even been a good perma sig.

This year I have to buy a new helmet and really like the Shoei's... for the street only and thinking about a RF1200 or a Neotec. I want something really light and the special visor is a big plus too. Post up a review after you have taken some good rides with it.

I have a Shoei X-11 (which is due for replacement soon) but I didn't buy it under the delusion that it was $400 safer than an HJC. I bought it because it was lightweight and it looked cool

What is wrong with people?

To each their own, I've had an HJC. Nice helmet but mine had poor ventilation and allowed a lot of wind noise.
I had the X-12 because I'm to tall to tuck behind wind screen on the track. Turbulence was nasty until I used the 12.
I paid what I needed to prevent head shake at high speeds, better airflow through the helmet and quieter. If I could get all those things for less I would be ecstatic.

the irony:lmao:

:D sour grapes......
I have 3 X-11, don't care what the other thinks or says, I just like to wear those
(something like shoes for woman, never say enough)
X-14 is great, now I can get clearance price for X-12!

I have been in trackside first aid with people that dont know where they are or what happened. This past year at mosport, a guys lid split in two after crashing in turn4. Congrats on your new lid, hope you never put it to the test.

I just picked up an RF1200. Its a nice looking helmet and fit me with zero pressure points. I haven't been able to test it, but I was told compared to my last years helmet (which was an icon), it will be much quieter in terms of wind noise. I also bought the photo-chromatic visor, but returned it after reading/watching reviews. There seems to be issues with the visor not getting as dark or due to high temperatures the chemical process begins to reverse the tint. There is a disclaimer on the packaging that states its ability to change to dark is limited by heat. I'll wait till this technology is perfected a bit more. My 20S required a different type of install in the RF compared to my Icon, but its all doable.

been there too. woke up during the ambulance ride and had no idea what happened about 20 mins before or 20 mins after... last $99 Zox I ever had!

Seriously though no matter what helmet you wear, if you hit the ground hard enough you're going night nights. keeping you alive is the main thing

seriously dude, you bought a $99 lid and trusted it. I can understand if you found a wicked deal a major brand lid and paid $99 but a Zox...glad you did not get hurt then again did the $99 lid save your head???hmmm

how many ppl wear spine protectors and now chest protectors especially for track use?

What is wrong with some of the people here? Your post has me thinking of getting a transition visor - Thanks for sharing.

seriously dude, relax. I was doing a track day with my street bike 7 years ago. Would I buy another Zox? No, but they pass the same tests a $1500 Arai does.

I don't have a road bike, but I took the visor outside today and it was about a 15sec lapse to dark tint. The small print says cold weather caused slower transition But it seems like it will work really well.

Lots of helmets pass the same tests and at a certain point you're just getting more padding or a better visor change mechanism etc. I'm happy with my closeout Shark helmets from STG. I'd like to try a Shoei at some point but I'd need a good deal on one.
