Is there anything creepier than imagining an old guy at a keyboard? Maybe imagining a brown guy trying to be a Mod or a Rocker? Speaking of eras.
I think during that era, neither the mods or rockers would be very welcoming of a brown guy. They can all party together now and relive the glory days, dressed in more black leather and pins buttons and studded jackets that an SMBD show and mocking Harley guys, but I digress.
My concern with the Swiss arms issue is its the tip of the iceberg, I don't own one or desire one, I do own guns. But at what point do pump shotguns make the list because it could hold more than three shells? Its a dangerous president.

Freudian slip? And what about the other part of the iceberg? The part under water represented by all the weaponry in private hands in USA. Anything we can do in this country to avoid heading in that direction would be fine by me. Of course this doesn't involve responsible gun owners in any way, shape or form.
We have a federal licensing system. We couldn't be further from US-style [lack of] regulation.

Lets not go down the US vs Can road on gun laws. We are a long way from open carry (no permit) sidearms and concealed carry 10 questions forms. My concern is guns that "look" dangerous being blacklisted and guns that "could" carry high capacity magazines or "could" convert to automatic being black listed. We are headed a direction I'm not comfortable with, my vote will go to legislators that support my direction. Well, at least till elected and they change their mind..........

They don't need a reason, but it appears they did the same thing as to the Swiss claiming it can be converted to FA.

This represent over 9500 rifles which means this week alone almost 12000 Canadian citizens have been turned into criminals at the stroke of a pen.

They destroy them. By the way, they claimed that the CZ858's were automatics converted into semi. The actual process was that they were partly finished receivers (so not a gun by Canadian law yet), but had the cutout that allows it to fire full auto. Then they welded a piece that prevents firing full auto and finished making the receiver at which point it becomes a gun. So a gun was never converted, it was "converted" before it was fully manufactured. Of course, our law also allows the police to make up laws as they go along when it comes to guns, so they can do whatever they want and even avoid punishment when acting in contempt of court.
By the way, you can still legally buy a CSA VZ-58 for $300 more, which is the same gun. The only difference is that it has a chromed barrel which is a good thing when shooting cheap corrosive surplus ammo. It is a newly manufactured semi so no legal issues. Comes in restricted and non restricted depending on barrel length.

Agreed. They are inanimate objects and millions of Canadians use them for lawful purposes such as hunting (sustenance and pest/predator control), protection in the bush (most bush camps I worked out of had at least one bear-chaser on staff) and sport shooting. Number of gun owners in Canada is 2000% (yes 3 zeros) of motorcycle owners but the number of gun deaths is only 30% of the motorcycle deaths. The numbers get even more skewed when you just factor in the deaths by lawfully possessed guns. No wonder I'm paying $35 a year for $5,000,000 in shooting injury/death/damage insurance... I don't need to tell you how much we pay for 1/5 of that in bike insurance
