Which to buy as 2nd bike GSXR or CBR (600)

Wouldn't asking other motorcyclists on GTAM be part of his research?
Who better to find out from then the people who have owned and ridden both brands?
I think people will understand my point by reading the comments made on this thread, which are the same comments on any other "which bike should I chose thread"

Some dumb comments in this thread.

I've owned my GSXR 750 since 2010 and I have not had a single problem.
In fact, I liked it so much, I bought a GSXR 600 for a track bike.
I had an 05 CBR600RR and that bike was no where near as comfortable as my GSXR.

It all comes down to personal preference, but the GSXR comes with more goodies right out of the box.
Adjustable rearsets, damper, slipper clutch, etc.

Honda's? Overrated and overpriced IMO.

So because you owned one gsxr that was problem free it means that they don't have their share of issues?

And you are right, there are some dumb comments in this thread. :D

Ummm i guess bikes catching on fire and having a massive brake recall is considered "as reliable as you can hope for"

So why are you looking to buy one if they're so horrible?

Come on now, you know Honda had their fair share of problems. Or are you basing your opinion upon on your experience?

Im looking to buy one to beat on it on the track. Like i said parts are everywhere and the bikes are cheap. The 04/05s were decent bikes minus the cam chain tensioner, secondary throttle valve actuator and the lego brakes.

For the street however i don't think id get another gixxer after riding a honda.

And yes honda has their issues as well, but when comparing a 600rr vs a gsxr its a pretty clear picture when looking at a reliability point of view.
Cost and maintenance might be another story..Look at a oem suzuki air filter, 35 bucks vs hondas 90

Face Palm to most posts in here

Just go and sit on both bikes, then read about them. I put research ahead of test riding the bike. Do your research and stop asking GTAM.

No one can answer that question for you, it will depend on what you are looking for in a bike
Is it Price? is it easy to work on? is it performance? Cost of maintaining? parts availability? or just looks?

Are you commuting with it? are you using it for Posing at timmies? are you going for touring trips with it? all of the above? each answer to those questions will guide you to your ultimate choice. How are people in here supposed to know any of those things in order to give you a proper answer, they are just going to tell you what they like and that to me is useless.

lol I did my research, I came to this forum to get first-hand experience from people who ride these on the street daily. Most of the reviews are sponsored, or written by people who rode thebike just to write a review. But yeah, you're right about the questions that I should be asking myself - everything brings me to the CBR600RR :D

Get an R6!!

I cant give you any valid reason's why an r6 is good or bad, I just got mine a month and a bit ago, so I havnt really been able to pin out the pro's and con's of it.

BUT!! I will say that its not very comfy LOL

BUT!! It looks so nice!

Hope that helps LOL :D

LOL iv been on my friends' R6. Didn't enjoy it as much as the CBR or GSXR.

Buy a gixxer with a slipper. Or buy a hahahahahahonda

I'm glad you brought this up. So I know the CBR doesn't have a slipper clutch, but has a built-in steering damper which is highly praised - Iv been downshifting no problems on my 250 until now - do you guys think that not having a slipper on a SS would be a big disadvantage? (im thinking no.. cause of all the CBR riders who make do w/o it :P)

It's one of those things that is nice to have but not necessary, same thing with the damper, or fuel gauge, etc. etc.
Bikes didn't always come with all the bells and whistles and people still made do.
Only you can determine whether these things matter to you or not...

"Prone to screw up" ? I know a few guys that have a 2007 GSXR 600 with absolutely no problems. Not saying that there are NO issues with that bike, but they're as reliable as you can hope for.

2007 CBR 600 is a great bike. But my advise is to sit on both and try them out, see which one appeals to you better. The finer, technical points of these bikes won't make much difference to you as a relatively new rider.
Yes they are.
Also, the oem damper is a joke.
But it all comes down to what you want. All the Jap bikes are pretty much the same. All have their issues.

I would not ride a bike without a slipper clutch, no freaking way, but that is just me.

I was not aware that recent CBR models didn't have one?? To lazy to go research it

Not even on the 2013's.

Ok I remember now, it doesn't have a slipper clutch but the transmission does the same function as one.

To me that would be a pretty solid reason not to get one but i will confess that I don't know how the "slipper transmission" works compared to the slipper clutch, that to me would be the question to ask If I was traying to chose between the 2 bikes
