LOL make motorcycles compulsory

I agree with the rest though.

HTA172 was passed on the heels of a street racing death at the height of the Fast/Furious craze, and we all bent over and took it like the nice little Canadians that we are.

I wonder what percentage of charges are ACTUAL street racing? What a joke... and some people here actually support it

Under HTA 172? Probably none, since they can apply the Criminal Code to REAL street racing.

Most people who have ridden bikes are far better car drivers,I know it will never happen but a graduated licence, motorcycle before car would great
Definitely... people would be more aware. Less people would have an actual license making the roads safer.
I'll always remember the day when they tested me for my full G, they were telling this lady's husband "you know its the last time that she can take the re-test right?!"
Seriously, if you fail twice, there's a problem somewhere.

@mmmmmmnaked: As for all laws and rules, they're created and then enforced for the people who are too dangerous for themselves or others doing these speeds, the mass always suffers for the minority of idiots. A lot of people can go 150+ without being the biggest danger to society. But there are still too many people (like my example a lil higher up) who would prolly be a danger to society at those speeds.

We already had speeding fines. And if it wasn't enough, there was careless driving. And if that wasn't enough, there was dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

HTA172 was an opportunistic cash-grab by politicians colluding with police forces to get yet another way to squeeze us by the balls.

What do cops do now? They wait for the 'big fish'... the 172 offenders. Nobody gives a damn about distracted (and truly dangerous) drivers. Get caught with a cellphone and its a measly fine. Do 150 on a massive perfectly paved 6-lane highway? You're basically a criminal. Talk about ****ed priorities.

i guess they were deeming that the other measures in place weren't discouraging enough to possible offenders so they added the cherry on the sunday...
kinda pisses me off as it add time on my commute to mtl or qc (i drive at night as well) but the idea of losing license, criminal record, and almost needing to loan to pay off a fine, figuratively speaking, is enough for me not to even try to do it.

I agree, it's really difficult to understand how they go after certain offences, even changing the laws to suit (HTA172) while almost turning a blind eye to others (left turners). After years of putting up with this, I have come to the conclusion that they will go after you if you are choosing to break the law (stunting, speeding, even changing lanes without signaling and obscured plates) while ignoring the drivers who just seem to "forget" the law (how to properly turn left into a four lane road, lane etiquette, drinking coffee/eating cereal/yogurt/vacuuming/texting. Sad, but you really have to pick your place if you actively choose to break a law, while you watch hundreds of others cruising around oblivious to the law and others on the road. No problem with wheelies, these were just at the wrong time and/or wrong place.

hope the 4th gets away
400 travels at 145 so they did 20 more then others? big deal
they may have popped a wheelie, dont hurt any one.

too bad for thease guys, why does everyone on here hate so much now?

400 travels at 145.
bahahahahahahahahah
Thanks.....i needed that

This might hurt........Newsflash cops hate crotch rockets.

Wanna wheelie and top your bike out, do it in the middle of nowhere. 400 on a long weekend, hmm not exactly the smartest place.

Don't understand what you're gettin at. Yes, the potential difference in charges can be large. Doesn't seem to deter some people from running though.

What I'm getting at is it depends on your definition of "criminally charged." If by that you mean under the Criminal Code, then only if you run.

Bahhh whatever! It takes a 1000 two seconds to get from 120 to 165 and 1/3rd of a second to loft a wheelie. You dont need clear road for 78 miles

Not SMART, but definitely not "dangerous" by default.

I think that before people get a license to drive a car, they should spend some time on two wheels (even on a bicycle, is enough to show how idiotic and ignorant car drivers can be), and they should spend some time in the cab of an 18-wheeler (because they have their own issues with how car drivers behave).

I also think that anyone at-fault in all but the most minor collision should lose their drivers license and start over from zero at their cost ... not just pay the 150 bucks or whatever it is to re-instate it. Purpose: Force them to re-read the driver's handbook. Force them to re-take the written tests. Force them to re-take the road test. Yes, I know the current driver licensing system is a joke and that people act differently in a test than they do afterward ... but a significant number of people don't appear to even KNOW the right-of-way rules, nevermind actually pay attention to them.

Someone honked at me from behind the other day, because I committed the cardinal sin of stopping at a red traffic signal prior to making a right turn.

Don't be a snitch, nobody likes one, keep your morals inside your house. I don't agree with stunting but I sure as hell not going to report a fellow rider.

You sir need to give your head a shake .... I actually always worry about getting rear ended in those situations. It's like what do I watch first the front of the car or the rear? ....

Saw someone get honked at today for waiting safely to turn left (if he had turn, would have caused an accident).

Near where I live, there is a 4 way stop sign that I'm always careful of because drivers forget how stop signs work all the time.

=(

All of this 'snitch' talk reminds me of Grade 5

I know you were being sarcastic but you come off as a fairly intelligent person so you may realize this as well: things haven't changed much since elementary school. They are just happening with a much larger "fenced off" area.
