Walking Dead (Spoliers)

Re: Walking Dead

True, viruses do not survive out of the body for more than a few minutes

I worked in a hospital..... HIV can last on a surface for 2 weeks. There were others but that was the longest lasting one. A lot of seven day bugs. Most of the hospital born super bugs last seven days for example.

Re: Walking Dead

And that would make it two out of three, but I somehow suspect that they'll keep him around. It's a cheap tension builder.

Possibly...... but we havent seen all the players yet. there is more tension to come :)

Wait till you see this guy....

There is something that happens to Rick later on in the story that makes me think this is Merle (AKA: the Governor) and the leader of the Bandit group but someone said there was someone else playing him so... I don't know.

Probably season three stuff anyway so it will be a long time in coming.

You will meet Michonne before that..... :)

Re: Walking Dead

[h=2]Q. Could you please tell me how long does the HIV virus survive once it is exposed to air? I have the fear that man/woman are more vulnerable to the disease. For instance, if the skin gets cut in a hair dressing saloon, though the barber uses a new blade, but he wipes the cut with a towel which has been used by many others - could it turn out to be fatal? Please let me know whether the virus enters the body from the cuts and the maximum time the virus survives once it is exposed to air.[/h][h=2][/h][h=2][/h][h=2][/h][h=2][/h][h=2][/h]
[h=3]A. The chance of getting an infection from a barber shop is very, very low. I once calculated the odds and there was a very, very small chance of infection from a barber shop. Of course it makes since to ensure that only a new razor blade is used for each person. In the context of your specific queries, the virus lives a very short while outside the body. As a general rough and ready guide you can assume, especially for a small amount of blood, that the virus is only viable for the time that the blood remains liquid. After drying out, the virus soon dies -- the time is not in days but in minutes. Yes, a person can get infected from a cut or wound but only if viable virus enters his blood stream through the break in the skin. Please always remember that while it is best to take all precautions, HIV is not very infectious and does not get transmitted by casual contact. Even when a non-infected man has unprotected intercourse with an infected woman, the chance of infection is 1% or less. This does not mean that you can afford to take any chances -- the low infectivity will be no consolation to a person who does get infected. Casual daily life exposure to infected persons can be assumed to be safe.[/h]

HIV cannot survive for very long outside of the human body. So you can't get HIV by having ordinary social contact with an infected person.

Re: Walking Dead

I didnt like how the zombie was able to rip open dales chest so easily. I mean, he couldn't pull his leg out of the mud, but he can rip open a guys chest?

It was easy because the Zombies fingers were decomposed to the point they're more like a sharp stick.

At least that's how Greg Nicotero explained it but i don't think he watched the show.

Then again if zombies were decomposing, how are they so strong? Shouldn't their muscle tissue decompose too?

Haha!! Me either!

How come their fingers are sharp sticks of bone that can rip open a healthy living persons chest but their skulls can be cracked like eggshells?

No. I cleaned the rooms. We had to understand the bugs enough to know what products to use and what precautions to take.

Bacteria on the other hand, lives in all places. You've got some which are chemical resistant and those that can live in almost boiling water.

I am actually talking about HIV, Cdiff, MRSA etc.

Re: Walking Dead

**SPOILER ALERT**

So some of you are right. They do change into zombies after they die. And Shane finally died, didn't know it would've end like that.

Damn it's gonna be a good one. I'm trying not to read too much of the previous posts as I don't care to know what is suppose to happen in the comics. Although I would like to know after the season is over

I wish these shows just ran continuous throughout the year though.. I hate the waiting game between seasons... Especially with the Walking Dead because its getting pretty good now. I've never read the graphic novels but I think I will now since I got to wait so long for the show again after next week.
