Your favourite oil brand

CRISCO...usually OLIVE oil but for motorcycle ive only used MOTUL....i hear Rotella this Rotella that.....gonna give it a shot....

Rotella T for the past 2-3 years, but I have ran into some CRAZY amsoil fanatics, and I mean REALLY CRAZY to the point where I felt like they wanted to fight me for not using it lol.

They were probably told they could date one of the amsoil chicks you see at the bike shows......

Amsoil is good oil but their girls at the show are smoking !

When I got there they looked like this:

Later on they turned into this:

Perhaps they don't age well?

Surprised nobody mentioned Royal Purple. I belong but rarely frequent anymore to a site dedicated to ZX 11, 12 & 14's. On it are some serious motorcycle engineer types. One guy, who I knew as one of the more knowledgeable posters, posted a bunch of tests in which Royal Purple failed off the charts on most standard oil tests. I will see if I can dredge up this old post and cut and paste it over here. I know it frightened me, especially seeing this stuff promoted heavily at Performance Improvement stores.

Well, here is the original post, I couldn't find the actual test page, but a few posts following this one said: Royal Purple bad for condensation test and back of bottle has no ncertification stamps (ISO, JASA etc)
CUT AND PASTE FROM ANOTHER FORUM, NOT ME>>>>
Many of my customers have been asking me to carry Royal Purple motor oil. I told them that I won't sell anything unless I know that its a good product. Well, I finally got two independant tests showing the perfortmance of the leading oils and what a surprise. Royal Purple is not much better than cooking oil. I have never seen such a pathetic score on any of these tests before. On the 8 1/2 x 11 test sheet all the other oils, Castrol, Mobil 1, Amsol, etc. were centered in a 50 cent piece cluster in the center of the page with Royal Purple almost off the page at the bottom in nearly every category.

I'll be adding this to my growing list of products to avoid. Others are things like aluminum sprockets, frame sliders, foam grips, forward foot pegs, spoke wheels, chrome wheels & swing arm extensions, to name a few.

I've used quite a few brands, find that AGIP and Amsoil give me smoother shifting, i also run Agip in my car so i'll probably stick with that for my motorcycle as well.

I found the Amsoil pretty good, but after 2000km it started slipping.

I use rotella T synthetic in my 929RR and my Dakota and IPONE in my 3 snowmobiles, and will probably use both when i get my RZ350 back in shape! I did like esso xd-3 but the price jumped and plus i cant seem to find it anymore at walmart!

I believe everyone should use the most expensive full synthetic oil you can buy.

I'll stick to my Castrol 10w40 dino oil I get cheap from Canadian Tire.

PS I was a lubrication formulator for 10 years.

Wish my wife was..........:cherry:

As long as the oil changes are done on a regular basis i can't/or the bike can't tell the difference between cheap or expensive oil, it runs and shifts exactly the same.
